I'm selling my custom RB2013 256GB. I replaced the screen with an LG high color gamut display. It's still the same resolution as the original but the color is not washed out, the blacks are darker and don't bleed through, the whites are whiter, max screen brightness is even higher and the viewing angles are greater and with less color change. I took pictures with my cell phone of an image from before and after the screen swap but they don't do it justice of the actual image quality. As I'm sure you already know, the original display absolutely sucked and was FAR below average compared to most laptops. Not anymore!

Before posting it on eBay I want to offer it here first since members here would appreciate the screen change the most. The laptop is in new condition except for a very minor amount of wear on some of the keys from typing. I no longer have the original packaging but I'll include an Amazon case/sleeve to make up for it. Fits like a glove.
I'm not 100% sure on the price I should be asking for but I feel that it is worth at least somewhere inbetween what a used and new 2013 sells for (1600ish) considering the killer screen. Plus it has an extra mSATA for additional storage space that the 2014 model lacks.
Let me know what you guys think.

Nice job with the mod! It looks really seamless.

You can buy a brand new 512GB model at Amazon right now for $1699. They were selling the 256GB model for $1499 before they appeared to run out of stock. I paid $1175 for a used 256GB Blade a couple of months ago that still had about five months of warranty left. eBay prices were in the $1300 range for a used 256GB model last I checked. Yours might fetch a small premium over that, but considering the warranty is clearly void and the system has been heavily modded, I can't be sure.

In any event, best of luck with your sale!

Thanks for the info! Amazon also lists the 256GB for over 1900 for some reason. Weird. Anyway so maybe I can start around $1500 for mine. LinkCable asked about buying it a few weeks back so I'll give him first dibs if he's still interested.

Is there any particular reason opted to stick with a 1600x900 screen instead of going up to 1080p?

Also, how difficult was it to get the screen/lid separated? Did you use a spudger?

I was forced to stay with the same resolution because the internal connectors for the 1080p screens are different as far as I was told, and would be incompatible. I also had to custom fit the new screen into the blade's lid by dissembling the new screen's metal frame, which was extremely difficult. In fact I damaged two screens before getting it right. The whole process was not for the faint of heart.
I removed the original screen using a spudger and a focused heat gun. Look up videos on how to remove a MacBook Air screen and it will be petty much the same process.

900p is a better native resolution for the 765M. Unless you're talking putting a qhd+ like the 2014 model has I think you made a good choice.

Razer warranty is not transferable btw. Of course, if the seller gives you the original receipt, you could fake it I guess.

Very true, although they probably won't even notice it's been disassembled because I made sure to make it look as though it was completely untouched after I finished.

The screen is not a direct replacement though. You will need to partially disassemble it in order to fit it into the laptop. I broke two screens before getting it just right because it was so difficult.
And try to obtain a genuine LG screen if you plan on trying this yourself. Most of these models sold are aftermarket Chinese ones but only the LGs have high backlighting brightness and the best color.

Good luck. This mod is extremely difficult.

I found the g screen, going to order 2.
Can you please write some kind of step by step tutorial about what should d and what I should not do in order to make it complete?

I will deeply appreciate it. My screen is broken so I have no choice.

May be if you have some pictures...

So the lg is the best replacement possible/ no other screen can provide even better result?
searching internet about 14 inch panel test and no result...

That screen might work, but its viewing angles aren't as wide and most importantly it does not have as high a color gamut. Meaning it produces colors less accurately vs the one I used.

just ordered 2 LP140WD2-TLE2, I should receive them in a couple of day.

I f you could write a little bit more about your experiences changing the screen I will deeply appreciate it.

if you have some advice on how to take of the aluminum frame, and the mistake to not do to not break it I will really appreciate.

    many thanks

I used a dye grinder with a small metal cutter attachment to carefully cut the edges of the new screen's metal frame. It takes forever because you have to keep the metal cool to avoid melting the sensitive plastic backing. Good luck!

Aw man, I guess I'm just a few days late here. Ranix78, if you end up being successful and decide to sell yours, let me know! Last year's Blade had a terrible display, but great battery life, and this year's has an amazing display with average battery life. PRSnow, yours sounded like the perfect compromise!
