I have been looking to buy the Razer Blade 15, but this time from hidevolution because I heard they can repaste your laptop with much better thermal paste such as liquid metal, but I don’t know if it will make a difference in temps. If you have brought a laptop from hidevolution, please share your experience here so I can see if it’s legit and if I should get my laptop from them. Thanks!

While I can't provide direct personal experience with your question, generally speaking, repasting with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (the liquid metal solution HIDevolution uses) will lower operating temperatures. HIDevolution also offers the Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads upgrade which are usually regarded as the most efficient choice. Both things are covered directly by them.
Finally, there is a NBR special discount to forum members and the option to purchase a global warranty (as opposed to only Continental US).
My suggestion? Contact @Donald@HIDevolution regarding any questions you may have. He is well regarded in the NBR community.

    Hope this helps! :)

Repaste or pads don't make much of a difference. They already use a pretty good paste. Watch the review. I think you'll be fine with stock, especially now that they actually come with SSD thermal pads

But they don't come with SSD thermal pads.... in the comments of that video she says she adds them

Yes they do! They didn’t before, but now they do. Razer started adding them in. I just got my blade 4K from Amazon and SSD temps aren’t going above 53c. My previous launch blade 15 was hitting 90c

Can you take a photo I just want to see what type of pads they're using and how thick. I put my own pads on.

I’m so sketched on opening this thing up honestly lol. I’ve heard some horror stories on Reddit of people losing audio on their blade and whatnot, but if it’s for the forum I’ll give it a shot. Any idea what screwdriver is required? I remember someone saying they used a special one at the beginning of the the owners lounge thread

I highly recommend them because they do an excellent job in terms of thermal paste with a 100% perfect application. They have many options ranging from non-metal to liquid metal. If you don't intend to move the laptop a lot, I'd go for the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut option they offer that brings down the temps anywhere between 10-15C.

In addition, they have very high quality control and test your laptop to ensure it doesn't thermal throttle and overheat before they ship it out to you so you are sure to get a laptop that works great out of the box.

I suggest you email [email protected] to explore your options.

Thanks for your response!! I'm mostly going to keep it at home because I don't go places a lot, I usually move from sitting upstairs and downstairs, and whenever I do go somewhere, I plan on taking my Razer Blade 15 (when I get it). But, I do want the best proformance possible, that's why i was considering liquid metal, in plus, when i get it, I will order it with a 2 year warranty. So what are your thoughts ultimately, should I go for liquid metal, or should I not? Thanks!!

Thanks for your help!!! I'm planning to get the Razer Blade 15 with liquid metal for the best performance, but I do travel a lot, do you think that will be a problem?

Thanks!! I'm still going to get it for liquid metal for the best performance possible, even if it's just a 5C difference, I just want the best performance I can get!! Thanks again!!

Regarding your concerns about the safety of liquid metal thermal interface material, yes applying anything metal conductive to a piece of electronic equipment has its risks, but we have a proprietary means of application to prevent leakage. Also, you can rest assured that any upgrades that we perform will be covered under warranty. Regarding its long term effects, we have been offering liquid metal thermal compound for over two years with no ill effects or reports of issues from users. On the contrary, we found liquid metal thermal material to be more effective than traditional thermal interface material over the long term.

In general I think HID evolution is a good choice to get laptops shipped internationally. However, I have twice used their service for repasting, and twice not had good results.

The first was an Asus UX550 with LM applied, but the temperatures were higher than stock and benchmarks had it performing worse than stock as well. I ended up returning the laptop to them.

The second was a Lenovo ThinkPad P1 which I requested a repaste on as well. I noticed that 2 of the cores were hitting temperatures 10C or more above the others, causing premature thermal throttling (i.e. 98C on cores 1 + 4 while 87C on the other cores). Thus, I ended up having to open the laptop and repaste it myself, with better results.

Also, I paid for the "reduce backlight bleed" option on the P1, but ended up getting a panel with some notable bleed anyway.

So, based off my sample size of 2, I would myself not pay for the add-on services, but I may just be unlucky.
