    Hello, I recently got my RB15 with a 2080MQ and I am loving it so far. However, I notice that I am CPU limited in some of the games I play, most notably TF2 and old versions of Minecraft. I am looking to also upgrade to 32GB of RAM as well, so finding the fastest RAM with the lowest timings possible would be nice (CL19 2666mhz is no bueno). I know that this laptop supposedly supports XMP profiles, so I want to get a set of RAM that will work with the laptop. I have seen conflicting information on if 3200Mhz RAM works or not for this model. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, or if I need to do trial and error.

    Thanks,
    DarkenMoon

    https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-Impact-HX432S20IB2/dp/B07BGLKD4M?th=1

    Buy this. Stuff it in there. If it doesn't work, tell amazon that, and get a free refund.

    3200mhz sodimms feel like they're still pretty new, so as you said, information is not super clear on the matter. Perhaps you could report your findings to the owners lounge afterwards?

    it's worth noting that getting low timings on laptop memory isn't really a thing afiak ... and 3200mhz at CL20 isn't gonna be much better than 2666@19 (Though I am sure it IS better, but likely by a marginal amount). And based on how my RB2018 Base model works with ram, the XMP profiles you speak of are likely baked into the bios and applied automatically based on the RAM inserted. Aka it's a marketing buz thing for them to claim it supports XMP, where in reality, all it does is sets the ram to the detected factory speed and timing and they are calling that XMP, instead of giving you the option to actually overclock the ram.

    I’ve managed to unlock the XMP option in the razer blade vbios. If you are still wanting to do this I can walk you through some steps to accomplish this.

    Hey @Hackintoshihope Im interested in this. Also I unlocked the memory settings in the bios but when I change the profile or numbers it reverts to the default settings. Did you overclock your ram?

    Haven’t found a way for overclocking stock ram to work in the bios... I’m stuck at the same point as you... however I have xmp profiles working where the 3000MHz kit I bought works as it should.

    After Reading some conversations about the ram thing, it seems like getting Dual Rank is more or less a lottery thing.

    I think Kingston and Crucial are providing Info about Rank.

    I ultimately did get 3200mhz Ram, but it apparently isn't as stable as a thought. It was good at first, or so I thought. I randomly started running into issues where applications would crash to desktop and the occasional bluescreen. Setting the ram back to 2400mhz made the stability issues go away. But since I stripped my screws getting the bottom back on, I need to get new screws and find a way to get the old ones out, and then return the ram and get 2666mhz ram with the lowest timings possible. Oh well, live and learn I guess. It's disappointing since I really want the best single threaded performance possible, in a laptop.

    You don’t want to go above 3000MHz in most laptops. Above those levels you will have compatibility problems with some kits.

    I'm wondering how well a 2933mhz kit would work. I'll probably stick with a 2666mhz kit just for compatibility sake.

    I have a Razer Blade Mid 2019 Base model running BIOS v1.03 that I wanted to enable ram timing and XMP options on. I went through the process for unlocking a lot of the settings using a tutorial from the years prior model, but I cannot get the menu for RAM timing and XMP profiles to show. The ram timings are locked out on the SA Config >Memory Options page. It shows current Memory Configuration settings, but they aren’t selectable. Below the section it states: “Memory ratio/reference clock options moved to Overclock>Memory>Custom Profile menu”.... however, I do not see this menu tab or option available anywhere. I have enabled the Performance/Overclocking menu in AMIBCP, but cannot get the bios to reflect that change. Any advice?

    I really just want to enable XMP

    Would doing something like this help? https://lukegb.com/posts/2016-11-11-secure-boot-shenanigans/

    If you can provide me the unmodified version of your bios I can do the edits for the CPU and RAM unlock if you would like. It seems you are not using the same set of tools and are trying to do this in a very difficult fashion.

    I’ll post the unmodified bios when I’m home from work.
    I tried the AMIBCP edit method, and it didn't work for me...but maybe i missed something. I'll let you take a crack at it.

    I would be very much interested in such unlock myself, however this is not going to be a straightforward process, this Overclock menu is not referenced anywhere, the handle to it has been removed. The Bios menu layout has to be rearranged and not only the user access level or suppress.

    I’ll look at it later today and see if it mirrors the same layout as what mine is. Please be aware that I have the advanced model and it’s possible the bios won’t be laid out the same. But I’ll see if I can make the same edits!

    You just sent me down a rabbit hole I did not expect to enter. Modding the BIOS this way opens up a whole new set of possibilities. Some options do not change if you mod using AMIBCP, but using the hex edit method can bypass these limits. My proof of concept is attached.

    I know it doesn't look like anything at this point, but changing

    Removed the "Access Level" line from the BIOS page.

    Now the question becomes, "can we use this method to unlock custom memory profiles in the BIOS?"

    I believe the proper section starts here on line 5109:
    0x36AF9 Form: OverClocking Performance Menu, Form ID: 0x2794 {01 86 94 27 9B 13}
    0x36AFF Subtitle: OverClocking Performance Menu {02 87 9B 13 00 00 00}

    and Memory Overclocking is here on line 5424:

    0x37333 Form: Memory Overclocking Menu, Form ID: 0x279B {01 86 9B 27 FC 13}
    0x37339 Suppress If: {0A 82}

    XMP is here starting on line 5474:

    0x37447 Setting: Memory profile, Variable: 0xA53 {05 91 3F 14 40 14 84 27 01 00 53 0A 14 10 00 03 00}

    0x3745F Suppress If: {0A 82}
    0x37461 Variable 0x3FC equals 0x0 {12 06 FC 03 00 00}
    0x37467 Option: Custom profile, Value: 0x1 {09 07 44 14 00 00 01}
    0x3746E End If {29 02}
    0x37470 Suppress If: {0A 82}
    0x37472 Variable 0xE10 equals 0x0 {12 06 10 0E 00 00}
    0x37478 Option: XMP profile 1, Value: 0x2 {09 07 42 14 00 00 02}
    0x3747F End If {29 02}
    0x37481 Suppress If: {0A 82}
    0x37483 Variable 0xE10 equals 0x0 {12 86 10 0E 00 00}
    0x37489 Variable 0xE10 equals 0x1 {12 06 10 0E 01 00}
    0x3748F Or {16 02}
    0x37491 End {29 02}
    0x37493 Option: XMP profile 2, Value: 0x3 {09 07 43 14 00 00 03}
    0x3749A End If {29 02}
    0x3749C End of Options {29 02}

    I'm glad this intrigued someone, as I am not a coder...I don't know much more past some mod scripting and 3d art stuff.

    I've got the RB15 advanced mid 2019 BIOS allowing selection of default, custom, xmp1, and xmp2 profiles for memory. My chips don't have xmp profiles, so can't guarantee these work. The custom profile, however, does work and sticks after boot. So far I've only tested that decreasing the multiplier decreased my frequency appropriately.

    More info to come later today
