    Hi,
I am very interested in purchasing a Razer Blade 14 2015, mostly for gaming and student use. I have read in numerous threads and forums that discuss the RB's performance and one of the main recurrent theme is the issue users have with the heat level and fan noise of the computer whilst gaming. I am not especially keen on playing max graphics on the games I play (900p gaming is fine by me on a small screen like the Blade's), and I am looking to play some quite heavily modded Skyrim, some Diablo 3 and possibly some Final Fantasy XIV. So it comes down to this, should I be getting the QHD+ just for that extra 8gb of RAM although I will never be gaming in native resolution, or is 8gb enough for the use I intend to make of it? Is the heat and fan noise issue something that really affects the overall experience or is it bearable? Will I be experiencing these fan and heat problems if I game in slightly lower settings?
    Thank you for your time,
    Best

I've been playing Witcher 3 at 1600x900 and Elite: Dangerous at 1920x1080 and neither one ramps the fans up to max at that setting (I have the 2014 QHD+ model). In fact I can barely hear them most of the time.

I do have the max CPU state at 99% though to stop it from going into turbo to help keep heat in check; Turbo is unnecessary, they both are super smooth.

On the other hand, Wasteland 2 causes a ramp up at 1600x900. It might be due to the fact that it's developed in Unity. I have found through experience that games built in Unity use more resources than they seem like they should.

By chance do you have temp measurements to go along with this statement? I'm seeing roughly the same thing on a new 2015 Blade. . in FFXIV 1080 with high settings the fan OCCASIONALLY peaks, but mostly stays around 3/4. . . but after several hours of heat soak Hwmonitor is reporting 98c on core 2. The problem is, I can't keep both programs active in the foreground, so I can't definitively say whether that core is spiking, causing those brief fan spikes, or if that's a sustained temp. Having read this thread previously, I did have max CPU state at 99%.

No performance issues out of her otherwise: no noticeable throttling, stuttering, hiccuping. Chassis does heatsoak pretty good after an hour or so.

Wish Razer had included manual fan profile options, though. I would love to be able to crank up the fans rather than turn down CPU state...

No I don't, but it can be dependent on the game. Like I said, Wasteland 2 caused the fans to get somewhat loud.

I ended up figuring it out. The first unit I received was. . .questionable. Even at Max CPU 80% it was hitting 99c and throttling like a mofo. I returned it to Amazon, ordered a replacement direct from Razer, and now with it set to 99% Max CPU state it maxes out around 87c.
