Can any Razer Blade 14 owners chime in on what the real-world maximum resolution output is? The specs are contradictory, HDMI 1.4a supports 4k resolutions, and so does the GTX 765m... but the spec sheet says 1080p. I would hope Razer chose not to save a few bucks and let this port function at its best. I have seen some anecdotal evidence in forums that it might be supported, but with some issues.
Perhaps one of you has plugged this bad by into an 27" Apple Cinema Display or some other cool 1440p IPS display? This would seal the deal for me and I would immediately order it as my desktop replacement.

Using a HDMI cable I had laying around, I could only get 1080p out of it to my 1440p monitor. Donno if I need a newer cable or what.

Pretty sure they cannot prevent (at the hardware level) using the manufactures specifications.

The gpu (the chip to be exact) is never the problem. It is the out interface and the end unit display.

That just leaves 1440p monitors that have built in HDMI 1.4 port, and these Razer Blade's don't have missing circuitry/pins, etc.. Hope someone has one of these rare monitors and a 1.4a cable! -

My monitor is the Auria from microcenter. I think it is HDMI 1.4 compatible. Anyone know for sure before I plunk out some cash on a new unneeded cable?

Since I found the monitor can display 2560x1440 with the new hdmi 1.4 cable, I will probably return the displayport cable. If I had known this monitor can display high resolution with the new hdmi 1.4, I could have bought a cheaper graphics card which does not provide displayport.
So please let us know how it goes.
Also please let us know about the refresh rate the blade manages to output at what resolution and also how stable it is at 1440p.

Shouldn't we be looking at the nVidia spec sheets for the 735M (or whatever GPU the Razer 14" is using)? Pretty sure Razer hasn't put in any limits from their side, so whatever the GPU can do, the Blade 14" should be able to do too.

I only see 1080p and lower offered in the control panel. Do I need to do something special to see other options?

Still worth investigating whether this is a software limitation... Sometimes you can force resolutions via the control panel. -

Turns out the cable I had was HDMI 1.4 + ethernet, I just didn't know it. I tried it again, and only saw up to 1080p offered in the screen resolution.

Go into the drivers folder, there is a file called CustomModeApp.exe. You can change the resolution there, should be able to change it to 2560x1440p @ 29Hz.

No go. The resolution stays at 1080p when I hit apply, even though it acts like it switched to 1440p.

I managed to get my Blade to connect to a 16:10 1920x1200 24" Apple Cinema Display, so at least it can do some single link level stuff. Had to use an active Kanex XD adapter, but it looked good. -
I just got my Razer Blade today, as well as an Asus 24" 1920x1200 Display. I got it working at full res right off the bat. All I had to do was change the settings from dual display to only secondary and it automatically switched to the native resolution of the display. I am using a HDMI 1.4 cable.

I've the W230st, but considering the internals are same, I think you have to have a compatible monitor. Did anyone try with the monitor I have (Asus PB278Q)? I didn't have to do anything to output 1440p, it comes up by default.

It has nothing to do with the 765m (actually HD4400 since that's what outputs the final image) and everything to do with the monitors. Unless Razer crippled the HDMI and its not 1.4, but I highly doubt it. Check this:

As I said before, the Asus PB278Q will probably work, since it works with my w230st.

Just make sure you set the video to 2nd monitor only. Disable the internal one with Fn F4.

Anyone have success with the Dell u2711 monitor - 1440p?
I am able to get the Dell u3014 monitor to get 1600p.....just can't get the u2711 to display 1440p.

U2711 HDMI do not support anything higher than 1080p/1200p.a u2713h (not hm) is said to work though.
Some people have some success using custom resolution using custom resolution utility or nvidia driver, but i wouldn't count on it. -

Anyone? I am trying to make a decision for work, and if I have a useless monitor that can't display full resolution, then I will need to consider my options.

Thanks...I know it can drive the resolution...as I said in my original post, the 30" Dell U3014 works at 2560x1600.
I just can't get the 27" Dell U2711 to work. But doing additional research has uncovered that it has more to do with the monitor using HDMI than the blade.
To summarize, I may need to go the custom resolution route and override the current configuration.
Let me know if anyone else has this specific configuration.
