Hey all - I just purchased a 2016 refurbished model from Razer and tried to update the firmware to 0.38.16 ( the download on the first link on this webpage). However, it seemed to be frozen as it sat their and didn't move for what seemed like 5 minutes, so I (stupidly) closed out the updater (end task via task manager)....and now the keyboard does not work at all. The keyboard does not respond to any inputs, even when I try to enter BIOS/system recovery. However, the keyboard lighting half-works - the keyboard lights will be off and then gradually do the "breathing" effect to full on green - and then it will abruptly shutoff. 2 or 3 seconds later the keyboard will repeat this gradient/breathing effect from completely off to green followed by the abrupt shutoff.

Now when I try to run the firmware updater, it says the device is not connected which I think is a weird error message since the "device" is the laptop itself.

The touch pad works (not the hard buttons though...however i can tap the touchpad to click the mouse) and I can still plug in a USB Keyboard/mouse to use and that works fine.

Any clues on how to fix this? I could try updating the motherboard driver maybe...I've already tried unplugging the battery for 15 minutes and holding the power button down for 30 seconds to cycle the laptop and that did nothing.

TLDR; halp i think i maybe bricked my laptop

This is a relatively common issue with that particular update, unfortunately if you canĀ“t get the update to install again, the only solution apparently has been to RMA.
