    Hello to all.

I have asked this question without this much detail in a few other posts and got some good answers, but would like a few folks to weigh in and lend me their experience with the 2014 Blade before I take the plunge.

When buying the blade 2014 I plan to keep the resolution (both desktop and game) locked to either 1600x900 or 1920x1080 in order to be able to max out all games (hopefully) at my new desktop resolution. I play lots of games in full (windowed) mode and like to alt-tab between web browser and game.

I have a 24" ASUS monitor currently (1920x1080) and notice that lowering the resolution results in a stretched, blurry image that is very unpleasant to view vs the native 1080p (standard LCD monitor).

My concern is that lowering the resolution of the 3200x1800 blade to 1920x1080 or 1600x900 will result in this same blurry/stretched distortion, rather than having it look as clear as a native 1920x1080 or 1600x900 display when set to those resolutions.

If however the 2014 Blade looks crystal clear at 1920x1080 or 1600x900 and I can keep it set at this comfortably and permanently I will certainly be purchasing this laptop, as 1080p is more than enough resolution for me. Effectively I am asking if there is any downside to buying a 2014 Blade and setting it to 1080p resolution permanently (figuratively speaking).

For example: If you are looking at a 2013 Blade 14inch at 1600x900 and a 2014 Blade 14inch at 1600x900 on the same table, asides from notable coloration improvements and viewing angles on the 2014 will you notice any difference in clarity/crispness?

In your example, both at 1600x900, no I do not think you would notice any difference resolution wise (color/viewing angles aside like you said). It is exactly half the resolution of native so it will just have 4 of the smaller pixels lit up for every one pixel on the other screen.

At 1080 I think there is a slight degradation in clarity due to it not being native or an even multiple of native like in your example. This may drive some people nuts, but it doesn't bother me at all, especially in games. I'm not sure I would run the desktop at that resolution permanently since I like the benefits of fitting more on the screen at once. That's why I'm looking for a nice 4k display for when I'm at home.

You shouldn't get any stretching at either resolution since they are all 16:9 ratio.

Thanks for the helpful response! Can anyone with both laptops in their possession weigh in regarding the side by side comparison with both notebooks running at 1600x900 resolution?

    Great question.
I would love to know this as well.
