Thank you. The huge discount let me pull the trigger. Also waiting for my Alienware x17. If the Razer performs well it will be my little powerhouse on the go. When it arrives tomorrow (hopefully) I will try the VBIOS I have linked to and hopefully I will not brick the device :D We will see...

Not a promotion but this channel test games on max setting on his blade 14 3080 variant. Still can’t decide between the two , feel bad if I kind only tested and send it back, I’m save the planet kind guy and save my wallet too :D.
Do you have any titles that he run? He tested tested destiny 2, GTAV, rust, Apex, MSF etc beside cyberpunk on other videos. I asked for running Witcher 3 or kingdom come deliverance.

From the cyberpunk setting it can run similar or more stable FPS than my current setting the difference only I don’t need to bringing the 5Kg plus Razer core 3070 gpu :biglaugh:if I want play outside.
Edit: plus external monitor for max performance.

I believe he did RDR2 right? I have that. Could load that up and test that out if enough people wanted that comparison. ;)

The thing preventing me from getting a Razer is my fear of battery bloat. Also hard to justify spending that much. A coupon wouldn't hurt

Yeah, it is a risk. I never had it happen to my 2016 or 2017 Blades, and my brother still has his 2016. He doesn't really use it often anymore but he hasn't had any issues. Time will tell.

Speaking of battery, the dGPU does turn off automatically when in power saving mode, which is great. On my G14 I needed to disable the dGPU in Asus software. This should help battery life on the Blade. See HWInfo shot below.

Could you please tell me which version of nvflash you have used and what was the command for flashing?

Try NVflash version 5.692. He told me other versions apparently doesn’t work. Yes he is my secret guru since old blade 14 ages, I’ll do anything dangerous after him :D.

I`m using this version but nvflash says something about "Board ID mismatch".

    nvflash --protectoff
    nvflash -6 bios.rom

Is the second one wrong command?

Ugh subsystem ID mismatch maybe because it’s different gpu, his is 3060. That’s bad, error same happened to my blade 15 back then and I gave up. Maybe should try other versions.

Lol hardly a guru, I'm amazed I didn't brick that old Blade when editing the main bios. Same for my current Blade w/ vbios that caused my fans to ramp up and power to be reported wrong. The whole point of modding that 2016 / 2017 Blade was to unlock more GPU power, something that can hopefully be done on all 2021 models with a vbios flash, which is much easier.

Keep trying with different vbios. I tried to flash a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (3060) and got the ID mismatch error and it wouldn't flash. That device ID was 10DE 2560. The Asus vbios that I successfully flashed is 10DE 2520 which is the same as the Blade 3060. It still gave me the mismatch warning messages but it let me flash.

It doesn't always work though even with matching IDs. I tried a different Asus vbios that worked, but I could not flash back to stock due to "ID mismatch." Luckily running "--protectoff" fixed that and I was able to flash back to stock. I guess it really depends on the vbios files.

Hopefully one of those 3070 vbios will work for you guys.

Tried some VBIOSs but non of them worked :( Nvflash was not completing the flash... Any Ideas which VBIOS I should try?

    Here ist the original one:

Are you trying vbios with device ID 10DE 249D? There are a few of those on the site.

There could be more to it than simply these 8 characters matching...unfortunately. I do not recall my subsystem ID of stock vbios vs. the Asus one that I'm using.

That one may not work though because it supports a DisplayPort connection? It may mess up the system because there is no DP on the Blade. He should look for a vbios that just has 1 HDMI, I think?

Isn’t usb C on blade 14 act as display port? Maybe that was also the culprit when I was trying cross flash the 15 advanced 1070, other (Asus laptop) didn’t have display port when I’m correctly remember.

Yes, Blade usb-c ports can also function as DP. The Gigabyte laptop that the vbios is from that you linked has a dedicated mini-DP 1.4 port in addition to usb-c.

LOL this is an insane gaming laptop...14" and runs super cool and in "balanced" mode unrealisticly quiet.

Temps in "Boost Mode": GPU @100W with 72°C and CPU 81C° (Laptop standing flat on the ground)
Temps in "Balanced Mode": GPU @85-90W with 70°C and CPU 80°C

Temps in "Boost Mode" and putting the Laptop on a stand (no active cooling): GPU @100W with 69-70°C and CPU 79°C

Overall the best Razer Blade I have ever owned. The fans are still a bit on the "high pitch" side when in Boost Mode but it is okay. In Balanced mode it is just a nice "whoosh".

This QHD screen is also the best I have seen so far. Zero Backlight Bleeding, very good reactions times, no tearing and beautiful colors. Good Job Razer!!!

Mine just arrived - the 14" QHD 165hz display looks fantastic. Much brighter than I was expecting after disappointments with Razer's smaller machines in the past. Super uniform grays on the boot screen, and blues on setup. It's early, but first impressions are positive. I'm usually pretty snobby on screens (I use a LG GX OLED for TV and console games, an AW 38 UW for PC gaming, and the new mini LED iPad around the house). Gotta say, text and contrast isn't too shabby on this thing.

I wonder how your R23 multi scores are?

My CPU is hitting 95°C even with LM applied. Will check my repaste later to verify everything is fine :) Just to be sure.

My notebook is sitting flat on the desk.

Raising the Notebook did not help very much. Just for your information

Another finding is that especially in Games when you have an external Monitor attached the CPU runs 10°C cooler with just about 15-20W (without external Monitor 30-45W). Maybe because it iGPU is not used? G-Sync is available by the way when using external Monitor :)

That's very likely the case because all data on the laptop's screen gets routed through the iGPU, so some of its power will be used. Regarding the external outputs, it looks like both USB-C ports can do DisplayPort so those are connected directly to the NVIDIA GPU, which is why G-Sync is available. Is this also the case for the HDMI port? I know on the Asus G14 the HDMI out is connected to the iGPU.

It has hdmi 2.1, supports higher bandwidth and according reviews all blade 14 output ports connected directly to nvidia so hopefully gsync would work. It’ll be found out later tonight after football match :D however.

First impression, F the function key backlight. They still discriminate EU fellows lmao.
Seems great display no BLB, pixels dead, I think I’m seeing old MBP13 2019 crispness here. Keys is it maybe only me but prefer typing on it than book 13, blade 15, beats my old stealth 2019 type feeling I think.

This thing run all maxed, even the temperature lmao, hits 100 degrees :D
Got a bit lower 3 times running it, the cpu wattage stay 80ish watt , isn’t this 45 watt o_O

Well it’s some windows update running maybe without would be a little cooler like 99 :biglaugh:
After football match later I’ll try to score 10K magic timespy, first with simple OC if I desperate I’ll try to dig vBios.

Played for 4 hours now directly on the screen of the Blade 14. Temps with liquid metal are 72-74°C GPU and 83°C CPU. Played Hunt:Showdown and PUBG. CPU and GPU in Boost Mode. Fans never got anoying and surface temperatures are warm but not uncomfotable like the Blade 15.

Do you have a laptop cooler to see if it helps with temps ? Last thing I want to have to do is repaste a new laptop..
    @pitha1337
Is this a pain to open up ? Your LM results are awesome but did you do anything fancy or just replace with LM . Both GPU and CPU ?

No unfortunately, I’ve only laptop stand and normal house ventilator it’s used now by wife drying the clothes :D
Keep in mind those are only synthetic that runs like 100% cpu and throttle only to 75 or 80 watt look at HWinfo64 I’ve attached. Usually on intel blade power throttle would be like to 35 watt on 45 watt variant. I’ll run gaming test later, to check gaming temperature and FPS etc.
Timespy I think I can boost to 10K, yes if cooler temperatures boost performance I’ll do that but as far the performance, at least cpu wattage on cpu boost mode is decent.

Razer Laptops are very easy to repaste. Nothing fancy here. I have removed the old thermal paste and secured all areas around CPU and GPU with kapton tape. Then I have applied LM on each DIE and did a small amount on the heatsink areas where the DIE will connect to the HS.

Temps in real life (no heavy benchmark) are just crazy good for the small form factor. I`m really impressed and I had a lot of different gaming notebooks in the past. Also I do like the keyboard very much. This was not always the case with razer. No complaints so far. Okay "finger prints" are heavy but I have already ordered a dBrand skin :)

Here's Linus' unboxing and teardown. From the way the motherboard looks, 32 GB soldered or an Asus-style half-soldered, half-user-replaceable solution would be impossible.

Also meant to ask if Razer is still using the same crappy, ultra soft hex-head screws that strip easier than an OnlyFans model.

Hi there, no, as said it’s on cpu benchmark where cpu runs 80 watt plus minus 5, and 100% usage. On gaming like when I run SoTR and Valhalla which normally ~45 watt never goes above low 90ish, averaging (mostly) low 80ish. That’s great for this form factor.

All test was same synapse setting cpu boost and high gpu. I swear didn’t cheat, yet :D
Oh sorry WD Legion only 1440p and all tested only on ultra testing.
TLDR: the gap between 3070 and 3080 on this maybe on those titles maxed at maybe around 10fps, so if 10fps important go with another €600 3080 version .

Wouldn‘t go with the 3080. I think the 3070 is the sweetspot. Maybe someone finds a 115+15W VBIOS which works. I have the feeling there ist somewhere one :)

Did anyone or reviewers noticed or telling that on boost and high synapse mode it’s 100 core and 400 memory OC, so literally we’re on cheating mode . I’m now on OC testing it, still reading amd CPUs for dummies since I saw 5900HX should perform better, the performance is similar with HS or even last gen 4800H when I’m not wrong.
Yeah unlike 3060 that is 14 variant uploaded on 3070 as maybe you tried there’s no bios matched yet literally and only 4 bios uploaded on techpowerup gigabyte, omen, alienware the later one is 130 watt but ID doesn’t match, have to ask around, not really my thing.
