    Hi,

I have been using my new Blade 14 for 3 weeks now. I've noticed that sometimes while carrying the computer at an ~40 degree angle on my knees, it starts making a little "ticking" noise from the inside. It doesn't always do it, but still quite often.
We can be sure it isn't the "common" hard drive noise (Blade has a M-Sata SSD so not mechanical) nor optical noise (no disc drive).

Has anyone already heard such a noise ? May it be an early sign of a hardware piece failure (well, I don't think so but I can't be 100% sure) ? Can it be "fixed" ?

    Thanks for your time.

edit : PS - I'm french native so pardon my English if I make mistakes !

I've also notice the ticking noise when i'm tilting my laptop up as i'm laying down to watch or browse things. So you're not the only one I think.

That's probably one of the fan blades hitting something especially when you are moving the laptop at a certain angle.

There no mving parts except the dual fans.

This is probably coming from the heatpipes. To make it thin, the heatpipes are thinner, and have sharper bends than what most manufacturers would do. This can cause a defect in the wick in the heatpipe, and when you tilt the laptop the heatpipe fluid may rush to this defect and boil, causing popping sounds.

Nothing you can do about it, but not likely to cause a problem. If you are really bugged by it, you would need to RMA it and get a new one.
For any laptop that pushes the limits of design, it is always a good idea to monitor cpu and gpu temperatures.

    Hey guillaumeiii;9330040,

That little ticking noise is a common problem for the Razer Blade 14" and i highly recommend contacting customer support and get it either fixed with a warranty claim, or replaced entirely. The reason being is that if it is a fan miss alinement or cooling problem of any sort, the thin form factor without proper cooling with have many many more problems further down the road. The product comes with a limited warranty from factory defects for a year.

Well I am too getting the same ticking sound after my razer blade 14 2014 after came back from the service center after replacing to a new mother board under warranty. When I am gaming its does not occur only when ideal or when I am browsing or just causally working on the laptop it ticks like a clock for few minutes and stops. I have noticed when I tilt the laptop to the left it ticking sound increases and when I tilt it to the right it stops completely. Its kinda irritating! I opened the fan and cleaned it, still same issue. Also took off the Head sink pipes and placed it back. Same issue!

I haven't have any ticking noise on my 2015 model. But I remember @hfm mentioned that he has to tight up some screw inside the fan or something similar.

It is likely an off balance fan. I had it on an older macbook Pro as well.

Had this on my first RB2014 and it went away with time. It probably wore off whatever blade was hitting enough to not happen again.

Well it's still continues all of a sudden .. I opened the Lid but can't figure out where it's coming from the 2 fans or the heat pipes . As of now inter changed the fans i.e the left to the right and vice versa . Let me check if it's still arising.

Yeah, my fan retention screws were loose from the factory, I had to tighten them up. Problem went away after that.
