SOLVED - Read my post below, thanks Rockin_Zombie!

    Hello all!

I recently purchased and installed this: Amazon.com: Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal Solid State Drive CT240M500SSD3: Computers & Accessories in my Razer Blade 14 as a second mSata drive.

Super easy to do, mSata port #2 was right in the middle and not obstructed by anything. I boot up, right into BIOS, and see the CRUCIAL-24CT (or something, Im at work so can't see exact model#) in the bios, right underneath the Samsung 840.

Boot into windows, go into Disk Management, and am saddened to see no unallocated drive space for me to format. So I have no idea if this is a windows issue, or if there is something wrong with my drive.

Does anybody have any ideas for me to try? I would REALLY rather not open up my laptop again as I am afraid those tiny screws are going to get stripped, so I am hoping this isn't a defective drive and I just need to update a driver or do something in windows 8 :)

    Thanks for any help! <3

Try disabling the mSATA port in BIOS, boot into Windows, restart and go into BIOS, enable, and start Windows again.

Yup, let me know how that works out. I'm looking to swap the original SSD and add a 2nd M500, I'm just not too sure if the original drive can be swapped easily and more important, if I can somehow get the recovery partition into my RAID.

Holy crap, this actually worked! You sir are a genius!

What I did: Changed the SATA mode in the bios to IDE (instead of AHCI). This caused the computer to not boot properly. I went back into the BIOS, changed it back to AHCI, and now Windows 8 recognizes my unformatted drive space in Computer Management.

    Thank you so much!

You can create a recovery drive with a flash drive (16gb+ drive needed I believe), which should allow you to install onto your 2 new RAIDed SSDs :)

That's good to know, now has anyone tried swapping the SSD on port0 for a new one? and I'm assuming installing a 2nd one on port2 will allow a RAID0 to be configured directly from the BIOS?

I don't think it was a BIOS issue, just windows 8 not recognizing it properly.

I had the same issue, had to go into windows disk management and assign partition label and format... from there everything was smooth sailing.

It's very easy in Windows 8, you don't need to download anything, it's all automatically built in. Here's MS's instructions: Create a USB recovery drive - Microsoft Windows Help

The problem I had was different. I couldn't see the second SSD anywhere in windows (including disk management) so I couldn't format it / assign drive letter. Once I did the BIOS thing, Windows saw the SSD properly and I could format it as you did.

    Weird problem!
