So I bought an extra wifi antenna and the intel 6300 ultimate wifi card. Installed it tonight and installed the most up to date drivers from intel for windows 7 x64.

I am able to connect to all 5ghz networks without a problem. however, when attempting to connect to my 2.4ghz network, i get the error "windows was unable to connect to the network."

I am successfully prompted for my wifi password, the error comes after submitting it.

There doesn't seem to be a difference between G and N technologies. I can't connect to ANY 2.4ghz networks. That being said - im pretty sure 5ghz is N (and maybe AC) only.

Is there any reason why this card would be incompatible? I've also tried the Intel 6250 (which only has two wifi antenna) and the same problem occurs.

Why do I not like the killer wifi card? Mainly because I do want 3x3 MIMO and also because streaming mp4's from my server have been buffering with this card way too often. I never had video streaming issues with intel cards.

hummm... aside drivers problem, I don't think that they actually whitelisted anything on the blade, more of an accidental mishap.

Are you suggesting the blade 14's bios is to blame?

I'm saying that a lot of things are impossible including a white list or accidental mishap

or it could be your 6300, try it in another laptop to see if it is the card.

tried the 6300 in my alienware m14x, no problems.

keep in mind ive tried two 6250's and one 6300 in the razer blade 14. im pretty certain there's a bios limitation at this point, i just really want to hear from someone else who has a blade 14 and has tried out an intel 6300 or 6250 in the laptop...

I have the Blade 14" and a 6300 laying around. When I get my second mSata SSD I plan to try it out as well. I will let you know.

I ended up not messing with the WiFi card, but I have a different one on the way I really hope works! Although it is AC and at home I will be using AC (5ghz), I really hope I can get it to work on 2.4ghz. For when I am on the go with the Blade.

Being on the go with the blade is the reason this is a deal-breaker for me. I've switched back to the Killer card for now, but I read a reply in one of your posts about using the killer cleaner after performing a hard drive format and fresh install of windows... so i'm going to try that with the intel 6300 to see if it works.

Good idea. I am going to try everything to get it to work. Having 867mbps wifi would be sweet. No more lag spikes or high ping. I have a Dreamspark account through my college and I can get pretty much any development software for free, as well as Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8 Pro OS. I will do a clean install if need be.

It's good to have a partner in crime on this one. There's only a fraction of people using razer laptops compared to something like alienware. I'll be back in a few days to post my results.

so i formatted my hard drive, installed an extra antenna again looped around in the internals so the cover could still be screwed on). installed an intel 6300, ran the killer cleaner before formatting and after formatting before installing intel 6300 drivers on windows 7 x64. it did not work. i cannot connect to 2.4ghz networks, including 802.11n 2.4ghz. I can only connect to my 5Ghz 802.11n network with this intel card installed.

I also tried removing the extra antenna and slapped in an intel 6250 (which works fine in my wife's alienware m14x mind you) and the same problem is occurring as with the 6300 (Windows could not connect to X, where X is the name of my 2.4ghz 802.11g network).

Finally, I bought a linksys dual band usb wifi adapter (AE2500). i installed the drivers for it and was able to connect to both my 2.4ghz and my 5ghz networks without a problem.

perhaps one of these possible scenarios are true?
    1. the bios in this laptop has some sort of limitation as to which wireless cards it is compatible with (which could likely be fixed by a bios update?)
    2. there is something weird about the antennas? does it have something to do with the integrated bluetooth on the killer card? of course my intel 6250 also has bluetooth...
    3. there is a chipset update required for this chipset to make it compatible with the intel 6300 and 6250. this would be ironic, since this is an intel chipset...
    4. some combination of the above 3 items
    5. something scary/unfixable

I am currently in College for IT-Programming. (Computer Science) So if I can't figure it out, I am sure one of my uber nerd classmates can! I will keep in touch and get back to you when I get it!

What router do you have and do you have it set to the same ssid on both 2.4 and 5? I had a similar issue with my 6235 which could only be fixed by either a) disabling 5ghz or b) setting it to use a diff ssid. No problems at all afterward

my ssid's have different names. One has an N in the name and one has a G in the name. keep in mind that literally none of my laptops (except for the blade with a non-killer wifi card), apple TV's, ipads, iphones, my nest thermostat, ps3, nor wireless printer have any issues whatsoever. I appreciate your help but your approach is trying to solve problems which aren't there.

linksys E3000 is my dualband router
