Ever since I had my Razer Blade, I've never been able to game with it, I've never been able to run resource-hungry applications, it'll just go off.

I used to think it was over-heating, but I checked the temperature when I run it, it was just between 70°-80°C.

Now, it goes off even when I open a 1080p movie in media player classic.

Yesterday, after upgrading to Windows 10, I used it for a bit, but then it begun to go off constantly and wouldn't boot past POST.

Even when it did, it didn't last longer than 3 minutes after login, then it'd go off.

I checked Windows Event Log, there was a critical error with no error.

The last log before all these critical power errors is Filter Management, whatever that is.

I've downgraded it to Windows 8.1, but now I get about an hour max.

    Any help?

Sounds like either a power adapter issue or power circuits in the Blade

FYI for those who updated to Windows 10. Check to make sure that the "Choose what the power buttons do" is selected as "Shut Down".
My blade 2014 powered off when gaming yesterday and I could not get it to boot up. The keyboard lights would remain on, the fans would be on full power, and the indicator light in the front would pulse every 2 seconds. It would not shut down even when pressing the power button. After letting the battery die, I plugged it in and powered it up and everything is back to normal.

    I nearly cried.

Just want to share my experience in case anyone else is having a similar issue.

Power adapter works perfectly. Battery is full. It can work normally for a long time, then it starts acting up again. Like now, it just went off after login, I left it after about 5 minutes it just booted up on its own, and went off after a couple of seconds on login screen.

    I'm thinking of repasting it.

You said you had a temp monitor running, what we're the temps when it shuts off, also read other threads about repasting, not easy.

I see you said temps were 70-80C, which is well within spec for the GPU and CPU. It's possible some part is failing at a temp below spec due to heat. It even shuts down if you're just sitting at the desktop not doing anything strenuous?

It sounds like you should just RMA it, especially if it's been happening all along. Don't wait until your warranty expires.

Take it back. It sounds like a motherboard failure.

I am now having this same issue myself. Whether plugged in or not, runs for a small amount of time then turns off.

What ended up being the fix for you? If this is a common issue I'm going to fight them to fix it for free since obviously this is due to a design flaw if it's happening to multiple people.

Seems the turning off thing stopped happening. Played FO4 for a few minutes and its back in action. Shrug. I'll have to do some investigating and see if I can create some scenario where it happens again. Battery wear is estimated at 18%. Battery might just be on its way out. I tried to fully discharge it and the laptop turns off at around 17-20% charge. Seemed to work fine from 100 to that point though. Plugged it back in and FO4 was working great, fans ramping as usual. Shrug.

its a voltage problem i think -- when hardcore software is being run the battery cant keep supplying the necessary voltage

Actually yesterday I wasn't gaming on the battery, just doing low intensity stuff. It worked fine until the battery got to around (reported in Win10 anyway) 17% capacity remaining, it just turned off at that point. I kept turning it back on but it would sometimes turn back off during POST, sometimes during boot into Win10. I'm starting to think that the first time It was happening the power brick was unplugged by accident and I didn't realize it.

As soon as I plugged back in, everything was fine. That's when I immediately fired up FO4 just to see what would happen, worked fine. Played for a bit. Battery was actually charging during this as the remaining capacity percentage was in the high 20's when I stopped. The thing that is bothering me is that the laptop is just shutting down on battery at 17% remaining. I just went to check my battery plan settings and ciritcal is at 5% and it's set to hibernate. It definitely wasn't doing this, it just seemed to shut off at 17%.

I was also incorrect, the wear level on the battery is at 13%. I almost never run on battery. It's plugged in pretty much always. We're talking 99% of the time. Battery must just be deteriorating. It seems it's finally not charging the battery until it goes below 90%. This might be a Win10 thing, as I don't recall it every happening in Win8/8/1. I really liked that feature of my old Samsung Gamer 7. There was a "battery saver" feature with that unit in the BIOS to not charge past 80% if it was plugged in, as it's NOT good for these batteries to be "stored" at 100% charge, which is what you're essentially doing if you're plugged in all the time without a feature like this.

Bottom line it seems like the battery is starting to go, but from what I can tell the power brick is enough to power the laptop during gaming as even with FO4 running ramping the fans up, the battery was still charging, so there's enough there to play the game and charge the battery. I've actually never seen the battery percentage decline while I'm gaming, even the most intense ones I have, say.. Witcher 3. Of course I don't watch it like a hawk.. obviously.. :)

Here's a HWMonitor pic of my battery stats:

wear level seems to change constantly from 10% to 70% on my brother's laptop its weird...
