I just got one of the (formerly) new 2014 models, the 512gb blade 14, and love the thing, except that the reflection off of the glass screen can be a bit much at times.

For games, I hardly notice the reflection and it's a beautiful display. For work, however, I'm usually working in a terminal or other black background and can see myself as I work, which can be distracting and eye straining.

Are there any good screen protectors out there that can reduce the reflectiveness while not compromising the image too terribly?

I had also considered returning it and getting the new matte screen 2015 version, but I do not know if I can survive on the only 256gb hard drive, I am already pushing 300gb.

You can get a Transcend 512GB m.2 SATA from amazon for well under $300

Unfortunately Crucial discontinued their superior M550 version.

I should add if you want to clone the existing one the best way is buy an Apricorn USB to SATA cable and an m.2 to SATA converter. I tried using an m.2 USB housing and clonezilla and it didn't work well, kept failing half way through the clone. EZGig is a much better way as it doesn't require you to take chances with the UEFI security settings. Easy to screw yourself there.

After sleeping on it, I do think that an external drive would be something I'd end up needing at some point anyway, even with 512gb.

Leaning towards returning the 2014 since its still within 30 days and preordering the matte finish 2015 version. Same RAM, better GPU, better CPU, slightly lighter, better (for my use) screen, less than what I paid for the 2014, other than the smaller SSD space, seems like the best choice.

Yeah, if you're still able to still return it for free then that seems like a no brainer. Usually companies offer discounts right before a new update to avoid this sort of thing.

I indeed did send it back today, Microsoft store said they'd give a full refund. Unfortunately though the Microsoft store doesn't have the new Razers in their system yet for preorder so I'll have to keep checking. I would order through the Razer store, but I was wanting to go with Microsoft's accident protection plan add-on (as it didn't seem Razer had anything comparable).

I'd return mine too if it was within the window.
