Yea, from the sound of it the shipment has been pushed back until the 23rd. And that's if you ordered within the first 72 hours ; )

Any good hands on video reviews have been posted yet? Also, do we know anything regarding battery life?

    Thanks

I'm surprised there are no reviews of the 2014 Razer Blade Pro as that has shipped already. Right?

There are something like 2 on youtube. Most of the rest are either the 14", TIED to the 14", or are from the 2013 model [with the 765m]

I've been toying with doing one, simply because there's no other decent ones out there, but I've still got a day of work ahead of me, and while I have the setup to do the review, I've never actually DONE one ; )

I suppose we need a separate thread for the 2014 Blade Pro.. They are definitely different enough..

Problem is that no one really has the New Razer Blade. Just wait.

I wonder if the winner of the PAX East Beast bundle will get his Razer Blade first... that would be sad...

Depends entirely on what model year the giveaway is. Here's the snippet of the grand prize straight from the official rules:

Razer PAX East 2014 Beast Bundle

    Prizes: Grand Prize:
    • (1) Razer Blade 14’’ Custom Etched Artwork laptop
    o Preloaded with Borderlands 1 and 2
    • (1) Razer Death Adder
    • (1) Razer Goliathus Mouse Mat
    • (1) Razer Kraken Pro
    • (1) $100 gift certificate to Think Geek
    • (1) Borderlands Loot Box from Think Geek

In no place does it specify the MODEL YEAR of the 14" razer blade. It may well be the 2013.

Give Razer some credit, they aren't idiots and they obviously aren't going to give away the previous years model. Sort of defeats the purpose of marketing the new one ;)

Ahhh, the naivety of youth :D

You'd THINK it'd be common sense that it'd be the brand new 2014 Blade, but you know what they say about common sense: It's so uncommon these days it should be an [expletive deleted] SuperPower. This doubly applies to any major corporate enterprise -- EVER.

That doesn't mean it WON'T be the 2014 model, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

Either way, the only one that will know will be the winner, and I'm sure there'd be a non-disclosure agreement attached to it. Heck, I'm so cynical I'm fairly sure they've already pre-selected the "winner" and the whole contest is yet another fabricated PR stunt. Of course, that didn't stop me from entering...

There's no reason they need to ship laptops off the production lot they're shipping to everyone else. They could have easily provided samples to the major review outlets weeks ago. In any case we should have user reviews in the next week.

Considering all of the ones displayed at shows were still considered preproduction, its actually quite possible that any reviewer units are actually in the first batch to leave the production lines. Apple/MS may send review units months in advance, but that's only because they produce thousands of devices, probably in several runs, prior to release. Its a very different situation here. We're dealing with a very niche device with limited runs. Review units probably had to be requested directly from Razer (most review sites simply wait for units to fall in their laps), and even then Razer might have decided to get devices to customers first.

Really there is nothing to either support or refute your statement, so we'll probably never know.

Didn't they have a couple quick first look models they were using for the razer blade? I wonder if they've not completely fixed some of the preproduction problems like heat cooling. When that first review comes out, everyone's going to be on top of it. I am waiting for an official review before I decide between blade or blade pro.

It iis NOT common for any company to NOT provide samples for review (this coming from someone dealing directly with computer hardware and reviews for at least 20 years). Even Aorus who had VERY limited quantities on hand, the one that came to me for review had to be shipped to Australia afterwards. There's no way Razer didn't have dozens of laptops representative of production. Manufacturing just doesn't work that way. They don't just pop off the line and into the hands of customers. There's weeks of testing and tuning that happens, they don't just turn on a switch and instantly produce laptops from design to customer production.

In any case it's a moot point now. Laptops are being shipped. Even if major sites haven't received them, then at least we will have customer feedback. I'm looking forward to user feedback on this one.

Here's a video from one of the lucky few: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1aSZEO5Oj0

    I warn you--it's painful to watch--and listen.

EDIT: Sorry, this is for the 2013 model. It's still worth a look if you want a quick laugh.

    GOLD.. PURE GOLD..

1:00 transition effect is especially epic. 10/10 would watch again. Though that's the 2013 blade, not the 2014.

Some pointers for the guy's next video:
    1. Get a tripod
    2. Don't play games while it's sitting on the bed, fans can't get air flow.
    3. Never change that transition
    4. Forget 1-3, set fire to your camera and never make another video. Ever.

That's the 2013 model in the video. Look at the specs in his description.. and the screen is definitely the 2013 model TN panel.

Yes. Looks the same outwardly but it's significantly different. Much more powerful GPU, new panel. Cooling system looks slightly redesigned from pics of internals.

Point taken. I just meant that if it had been the 2014 model in that review, I still would not have gotten much out of it.

I especially enjoy when he is attempting to get his phone timer in the shot to time shutdown and boot.
