Does anyone else find that the screen brightness doesn't go as low as most other laptops? In a dark room, minimum brightness is still a couple notches higher than I'd like.

Yeah I mentioned this before but 100% agree. Also wonder how that will change battery life...

Battery life is two hours less on the 2014 than the 2013. 2013 is 6 hrs and the 2014 is 4 hrs. Thats non gaming use. HTH

Sorry, that is BS. I've owned both and I say they are about the same, or close enough I couldn't even say which had more for sure.

Reviewers and logic says different. More pixels to push less battery life. Thats usually how it works.

There were multiple people getting 6+hours in the forums here. I have a feeling reviewers are using IE in rundown tests that was confirmed by someone to be in the profile to use the dGPU.

I think there is more to it than just pixels, the IGZO screen is supposed to be more efficient too.

To comment on the OP, I also wish you could go down a couple more notches on screen brightness, especially when I'm in a dark room and/or on battery.

Precisely. The design of the transistors in IGZO is significantly smaller than traditional a-SI transistors in LCDs, which leads to much less light blockage. Basically the panel allows way more light to come through even from a less powerful backlight. I wouldn't be surprised if the backlight was actually at a similar brightness setting on minimum to any traditional LCD that gets very dim.

Do you actually have the computer, or just trolling?

Here is the test procedure CNET supposedly uses: How we test: Laptops - CNET

It's basically WMP playing a Divx movie on a loop. They do mention using a luminance meter to set the brightness.
