I uninstalled the Synaptics driver which ships with the laptop in an effort to upgrade to a newer version of the driver. However, despite successful driver install of a newer version, the trackpad isn't recognized as a Synaptics and the default MS driver is installed. I tried to force the selection of the installed Syanptics driver, but then the trackpad "... fails to start.." (as per device manager).

At this point, I'd like to roll back to the shipping driver version, but I don't see it available on the Razer support site. Any ideas on how I can obtain the driver which ships with the laptop?

Only thing I can think of is to contact Razer and see if they will post it. Otherwise may be system restore time. :-(

Is anyone willing to post the Synaptics version which ships with the laptop?

Uninstall and reinstall Synapse itself, it should fix the driver issue.

I did the same thing, and uninstalled and tried to reinstall the synaptics driver from their website. For whatever reason the driver says it installs fine, but none of the hardware support that goes with it. (the synaptics tab does not show up in the mouse properties screen) It works fine with default software, but not having the palm check while typing is a pain in the rear!
Were you able to get the complete synaptics package installed or just the driver?

try to reinstall Sypanse (the Razer software - not Synaptics)
