    Hello all
I currently have an MSI GS65 with an i7-8750H, 1070 max-q, and 16gb of memory. I'm thinking of upgrading to get something more portable. I mainly use my laptop for office apps, surfing, and gaming (sins of a solar empire and tots war games, RTS mainly). My questions are:

Is the 3070 Razer 14 that big of an upgrade the $2000 price?

I don't need one immediately, does anyone expect massive upgrades in 2022/2023 that would make it worth waiting?

does the turbo boost really help the temps? Would it negatively affect me playing the RTS games?

    thanks!

If you hold out for the next big CPU/GPU launch then you will always be waiting. Looking out to 2023 is a pretty long time, AMD, Intel, and Nvidia will all have new generations of CPUs/GPUs by then that will be better than what is currently offered. But if you wait till 2023, then what about 2024, etc.

I upgraded similar specs 8750H 1070 maxq only Razer one (advance 2018) to 3070 blade 14. Smaller form factor with much better performance (new tech gpu like dlss and ray tracing), and ryzen power effect processor which was huge upgrade from 8750H that was power throttled by Razer, to me it’s nice upgrade since I use that technology not sure if your titles take advantages from it, 1070 still capable running 1080p high or medium. For rts games not sure, sounds it’s more to CPU, depends on games boost is nice but if it’s too much fps I think from my experience it’ll break mid 90ish cpu temperature. However on ryzen there’s 3rd party cpu temperature limitation like ryzen controller or amd apu tuning utility without disabling turbo boost like on intel, so when it’s reaching that temperature I just install that apps, take only a minute to me to cap the temperature.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry I should have specified more about the waiting part as I know you can always wait for the next tech. I meant more is the next series of chips both GPU and CPU. Mainly since I have travel in the fall if it's worth waiting for the 2022 models or 2023. I have no issues waiting or actually getting this version. Just don't know the tech landscapes like I used to for upcoming releases. And I haven't been able to find good benchmarks between what I have and the razer 14 to see how significant the upgrade would be. Thanks.

On other thread, blade 14 5900HX there’s some benchmarks on earlier pages. I’m tomb raider fans so on that game it was resolution plus fps upgrade. 1080p highest on 8750H and 1070maxq was 70ish on blade 14 I’m getting 80ish fps on higher 1440p same setting (shadow of tomb raider). If you still satisfied with your current rig it’s better to wait newer tech always nice to have. I upgraded from 7700HQ and 1060 before to 8750H 1070maxq, not mentioned hardware upgrade, performance a lone which’s around 30% is worth to me. But according rumours next year apparently Razer will increase their laptops price not sure if it’s an effect from chip shortages but if it’s maybe other brands will also do the same, in that term so maybe it’s a good time to upgrade your laptop.
