Hi, I recently bought a rare Razer Blade Stealth Mercury White Late 2019 model secondhand from Ebay.Seller claimed this is one of the few Mercury White models that has a gtx 1650.

I was a bit sceptic. I thought maybe some part of windows was edited to make it look like it has a gtx 1650 gpu or a motherboard from the black late 2019 variant was replaced.

Upon receiving it, it has the 65w power adapter. I opened the back cover and saw it has the dedicated gpu chip. It seemed legit. I powered it up and checked device manager and it does show there are 2 gpu's. I tested the discrete gpu through furmark and it wasn't utilizing the discrete gpu at all even if I force nvidia and windows to use the discrete gpu at all times. Gpu-z shows 0 mhz for both core clock and mem clock.

I was starting to think that maybe this unit was a scam. I have another razer blade stealth late 2019 black 4k version which was the gtx variant. I saved a copy of its bios and flashed it to this white variant. To my surprise it worked and now the discerte gpu can be fully utilized. I ran firestrike and the score is pretty good as well. Razer Synapse now detects my system as the black gtx variant.

My conclusion is, razer indeed sold a few units of the blade stealth late 2019 mercury white with gtx gpu's and they intentionally disabled it
The solution to this is to flash a bios from the black gtx variant and you are good to go.

My question is, does anyone have a unit like me? How rare is this? also, should i upgrade my power adapter to the standard 100w? I could imagine the 65w included is not enough for gaming.

    Wow what a rare find.

    Nicely done!

    I'm moderately jealous lol.

So strange they shipped models that had both but never officially supported it. keep an eye out for artifacting or low clock speeds, the chip on it may be a dud - which would explain why it is disabled and sold in one of these systems instead. Good way to re-use boards that have minor defects for sure.

Thank you. It was pretty crazy of me to buy something on Ebay that seemed too good to be true. I took the risk anyway andi I'm glad it worked out.

Only issue though was the seller wasn't forthcoming that he couldn't use the discrete gpu. Good thing I figured it out and flashing the BIOS worked.

Will keep an eye on low clock or artifacts. I'll do some more stress tests on it for sure

I think the seller changed the motherboard mercury white non dgpu with gtx model, maybe you can check serial number on backcover and check with serial on system info or bios if it matches. It’s because gtx model comes with 100 watt ac adapter as you probably know, using 65 watt would probably discharge the battery while on heavy usage like gaming, it happens on early 2019 stealth with mx150 powered by 65 watt ac adapter. So maybe you’ll need 100 watt ac adapter.

Thanks for the advice. That's actually the first thing I checked which was to verify if the serial number is the same on the box, back cover and what is shown on the BIOS. This came with a 65w adapter which means it was intended for use without the discrete gpu hence the gtx gpu was disabled. Also I mentioned earlier that I couldn't use the discrete gpu at all even if it's shown in display adapter in device manager. I only managed to use it when I flashed the bios from my late 2019 black 4k variant.

As proof, you can see the photos of the serial number below:

Wow it’s true cassis serial match bios, yes it’s official product. I was thinking so because previous older blade 14 cassis can be used by newer blade 14 motherboard without issue only cassis and bios serial numbers didn’t match each other. It’s new then, I think on other forums I didn’t see someone mentioned this mercury gtx.
