Are we not all sick of people replying to Reviews or Posts about the Razer blade with comments "That's such a Rip-Off I can get a M17x for much cheaper!!*.... .... Does the irony escape these people that the same type of close minded individuals would respond to any review of an Alienware laptop or any other gaming laptop for that matter with a comment such as "What a rip off I can build a much better desktop for half of that!!!"......

Razer Blade is unlike any product on the market, and has even sparked other manufacturers to join suit "MSI GS70". Just because you can't afford this notebook doesn't mean it's overpriced...... It feels a need for myself and many other like-minded individuals who want a laptop they can drag around the house, travel with, get work done, and game on all in one machine.

I have owned Sager, Alienware, MSI, and Asus gaming laptops none of which could fill this requirement. It's like saying an Iphone is overpriced, my Ipad can do the same thing for cheaper and has a better processor.

Sorry guys just had to get that rant out of my system :)

People complain a lot about a lot of things, including "Your piece of technology is junk". Same kind of threads can be found in the Alienware subforum as well ;).

Consumers interested in "desktop replacement" type bulky laptops with a top of the line dedicated gaming graphics cards (or dual GPUs in SLI) comprise a very small niche market. The market for well designed laptops with a thin form factor and somewhat higher than average pricing is a bit larger, but it is still a small segment of the overall laptop market.

If you can imagine a Venn diagram of consumers looking for a laptop suitable for gaming that is also a thin form factor, and don't mind paying a premium for this, that is an even smaller niche, but perhaps it is growing.

If you're complaining about this, you are not ready for the vitriol people spew about Alienwares.

I feel the same way. To me the reason why I bought the Razer Blade is that I wanted something that was clean looking and thin. Alienware is nothing but bulk, don't try and say its bulky because of cooling. Alienware in my opinion has the worst cooling. My m17x R4 with a 7970m over heated like crazy. I would have to stick bottle caps underneath it so it did not sound like a freight train in my office. The Asus line is ok, but its way to bulky quiet as can be and from the reviews of Razer, they say its quiet but gets hot on the top. I can handle that, for being .65 inches and half the size of a m14x with the same components, I will spend the extra couple hundred to have better quality.

The m17x r4 has mediocre CPU cooling, but a repaste is enough for it to run an i7-3840qm at 4.2ghz without overheating. I'm not sure if my 7970m would overheat if I ran Furmark for twenty-four hours and blocked the vents.

Feel free to count me on the other side of the fence. I don't think I would ever purchase any of the blades (14 or 17) but I am quite glad they exist, and I think the idea behind their touchpad is awesome (was glad it made it into their keyboard line). When it comes to gaming laptops, the more options the better imho. The 17in razer fills a very small niche, but the tech they are developing is trickling down akin to how F1/indy tech makes it way into consumer vehicles so as martha stewart would say, that's a good thing.

It's still too expensive by about $250 US though.

I don't mind the 900p resolution and the TN panel. It's the quality of the panel that I care about, I could care less about the viewing angle so IPS/PLS is not a requirement. What we were expecting is a good quality TN panel with good color gamut, good black levels, good contrast ratio.

Now I've never seen how good the TN panel is on the Razer 14 in person so I can't judge, but from what people are saying that owns it, it is terrible or it is good enough or whatever.
