I've decided to return the laptop. Can't upgrade the nvidia drivers and touchpad issue (need to disble touchpad when mouse is plugged in but need to toggle that after removing an external mouse using KB commands) annoyances that a 3200 laptop shouldn't have.

Can’t update to latest one probably because it is related some unique firmware that use higher tdp than usual cards or new synapse that has functionality disable iGPU for better performance. Software update for Razer might take some time so maybe you did right thing if you want latest driver out of box. Touchpad can’t work once you plugged mause sounds like more to windows or synapse setting.

Anyone here figure out what wattage their 2080 super is running at? I want to put that vbios on my RBA 2080 super to get more performance. I never see temps on the GPU get over 65

you can update to the latest 451, however yes it knocks out video to the laptop if Dedicated GPU is selected, I had to hook to an external monitor enable Optimus and then restart, the 2080 then worked when needed but I like dedicated for the 120hz.
I talk to Razer an they are working with Nvidia to fix this for all drivers coming up. I loaded back the original driver and all is good. And I have no idea about trackpad issue, I have an external mouse 95% of the time and never had any issues or had to disable or tweak the trackpad.

Well just so you know I was talking to razer support and this is what they ultimately said: https://imgur.com/u7id8WG
Also the touchpad thing is a feature built into windows. It basically turns off the touchpad if an external mouse is plugged in but when you unplug it the touchpad should work. This works fine on my msi laptop but not on the razer blade for some reason.

how are you able to update to 461? I've tried updating through geforce experience, windows update, and downloading the driver from nvidia and it won't install newer than 442.53.

I'm not sure on the specifics. You'll need to ask @Hackintoshihope for more details.

There's a specific way to get the gpu power limit to hit 100w.

So long as the drivers are stable it's not needed to have the absolute latest drivers to have a good time. Heck sometimes the latest drivers are less stable. What touch pad issues were you having? I take it the machine is being sent back already?

Any of you guys got a shot of your RB17 Pro 2020 with the back off? Trying to work out what this 3rd chip on the BIOS is on the RB17 Pro 2019 - maybe the 2020 has it also? It's 100% not the main BIOS or NVIDIA VBIOS chip. It contains a 1mb file when read with an SPI flasher.

I just installed the bios 1.03 for the blade 17 2020. But I can no longer undervolt! The only positive thing is I’am able to use the xmp profile now for ram.

Is it possible to roll back to the original bios?

Is it possible to enable most of the options by do a BIOS mod? The only thing is the BIOS mod is too difficult for "normal" people. :(

The machine is returned. I wanted the latest driver since it offered fps improvement in dx12. But overall the inability to upgrade the drivers normally frustrated me and the stupid reply from Razer support saying I need to ask for help from Microsoft because I upgraded from home to pro for windows. The touchpad issue was that I needed to go to start->settings->devices->touchpad and uncheck the "leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" so I wouldn't accidentally move my cursor while gaming because the touchpad is huge. In theory the touchpad should be turned back on when you unplug the mouse. Problem is it doesn't. You would have to plug the mouse back in and navigate to that again to turn touchpad back on. Never had this issue with my MSI but on the 2019 blade advanced 15 and the 2020 blade Pro 17 this issue exists.

Tried 64gb 3200Mhz ballistic memory and it runs at 2666hz fine but if you enable XMP 3200Mhz profile in the bios the RBP won't boot and you're forced to pull the cmos battery and reset. Only one profile provided and can't modify any of the timings.

So back to running at 2666hz. Lame! Wish it would at least let me run at 2933.

Sold one of my area 51m’s and ordered one of these guys. Ordered the 4k 120hz version. Will be my first razer out of the dozens of notebooks I’ve had. Little nervous spending 4K on a BGA notebook with seemingly questionable tech support but I’m gluten for punishment. I am “interviewing” other companies for Alienware dismissal.

You'll have less to worry about if you bought it from some place like Best Buy or Amazon that offers its own or a third-party extended warranty.

My other question is the 4K 120hz( already bought) display need to disable nvidia optimus to active. otherwise you can only get 60hz. But if using dedicated Nvidia GPU option will consume battery very fast.

    Regret ...

Yep thats what I did. Amazon offered the Asurion 4 year protection for cheap. I don't want to deal with Razer after my 1 year.

The 4k 120hz is amazing btw :) My first razer and it is beautiful. Overpriced but beautiful

I'm thinking about the device can auto-switch between these two models by plugin or not, but looks like Razer is using some how hardware need restart to switch. strange.

It uses a hardware mux switch to disable the igpu and optimus. You can either set it in the bios to use dedicated gpu or optimus. If you set it to dedicated you can then run at 120hz. You can also change the setting in razer synapse and it will change the bios for you. A reboot is still required. But with a boot time of 4 seconds its not bad at all.

I update to BIOS 1.03 and it has an overclocking menu that only can select default profile or XMP profile. my memory is corsair DDR4-3000, when I select XMP profile, I got BSOD every 15 minutes when I'm gaming.
I use memtest86 PRO to test the RAM and give me hundreds of errors in less than 10 minutes. So I changed back to default profile and everything back to stable again.
So I don't understand wtf is Razer doing now. sad

Razer still bake in an undervolt from factory right? Try giving your machine back some of the voltage and see if it's stable for more than 15 minutes.

OC'ing anything will require a little more voltage to be stable - especially "Uncore" or ("System Agent" in Throttlestop) try giving that +125. Yes PLUS.

Can someone please confirm: When sitting at "dedicated GPU only" and unplugging the powercord the screen goes black. Only attaching the power cable again will light up the screen again? in Optimus I do not have this behaviour.

Are you running Windows 10 version 2004? If so, I believe that's a bug. Not sure who would be responsible for fixing it, NVIDIA or Microsoft.

    I have Windows 10 Build 1909.

Also I have noticed that the RTX 2080 Super MQ does not run at 100W all the time when setting Synapse to full performance mode. I have seen that when you reduce performance for CPU and stay at full performance at GPU 100W is used from the GPU. Otherwise only 90W is used by GPU.

Checked both setting with TimeSpy Scores.

Score with all set up to performance: 9540 Graphics Score (+125/500Mhz OC) and 9500 CPU Score

Score with reduced CPU Power and full performance on GPU (100W) Graphics Score 9590 (+125/500Mhz OC) and 7500 CPU Score

It seems like Razer dynamically adjusts the wattage on GPU in the perfomance mode but not sure about this.

Does this issue only exists with BIOS 1.00? I could install the newest drivers without issues with BIOS 1.03

Downloaded the most recent Nvidia drivers + Geforce Experience and Installated them. Over the previously installed Geforce experience it did not update the driver. Windows is 1909
