    Hey guys,

I just received my Razer Blade 14 (2014) and the power brick is giving a high pitch whining noise. Is it normal?

Well, ok, if I remove the power from the laptop, it makes clicking noises....

EDIT - The guy on the phone said clicks are normal as long as it's not very loud.

If I bought from MS store, do I go through MS or Razer to get it replaced?

EDIT: OK, so I called Razer and they emailed me a form to fill in and reply back to. They said they'll try to send a replacement unit today and they'll give me a return box and sticker for the defective PSU.

    Update 5/21/2014

I'm waiting on the replacement. The wild fires last week caused them to delay processing my request until this past Monday 5/19/2014 which I understand 100%. They quickly responded on Monday and I should be getting the replacement by this Thursday (5/22/2014). I'll post a new post and let you guys know what happens.

    Update 5/22/2014

I'm a little pissed off... They sent me the wrong damn power brick. 120w instead of 150w. Also it's scratched up like hell. - I'm going to send it back to them; I don't even have the power cable to plug into the brick.

    Update 5/23/2014

I called today and they said sorry and that they will be sending me the correct power supply. - guess I'll just have to live with it a bit longer.

I don't think this is normal - while my Blade has to be sent back because it makes cricket noises while running games, the power brick runs completely silently (albeit hot).

Yeah, I have the same problem. Started the process of getting it replaced but I guess their support in CA had to evacuate due to a brush fire.

Here to chime in again as well. First day chirping has seemed to cease now that I've been gaming for a couple days.

I have no issues with my PSU or laptop making any clicking/whining noises.
I guess my luck finally changed!

Mine was doing the cricket sound first few days but I don't recall hearing it again. I'll keep listening. It was so bad the first day or two my wife thought there was a cricket in the living room.

OK, I'm a little pissed off... they sent me the wrong power brick... 120w instead of the current 150w version. Also, massive scratches everywhere on the power brick. .

Just got my Blade replacement, this version is 512gb instead of 256gb. There is still a slight cricket noise at the front right keyboard but it is not quite as loud and gets better once the fans spin. Not as noticeable as it was on the first laptop and I am now under the impression that this is working as intended. The 512gb did show me the highest CPu temp I have seen on the computer yet. 99c while playing BF3 at 1080p ultra settings.

is the extreme heat this model gives out going to eventually fry the compenents? Im looking for this laptop to last a couple years, not to spend $2500 on an oven that frys itself for the sake of being thin

I bet this laptop will last 2-4 years of moderate use.

I've had plenty of laptops that the chips run this hot and they all still work fine. Where is this longevity speculation coming from?

Longevity speculation has to do with the heat this unit puts out. Everyone says the bottom and area right above the key board get extremely hot during gaming. This means that when the blade hits temps in the high 80's or low 90 degrees celsius, the chips are not only hot, but the components around then like the motherboard are also probably heating up. Heat destroys components over time. So I just worry that If i blow over 2k on a laptop if it will last 3 or 4 years without frying itself to death for the sake of being a thin gaming machine

but it sounds like, based on reviews of even the original blade, that the blades are built extremely well
