My Blade 14 has started shutting down because it's getting hot. I'm playing Diablo 3 on an external monitor for maybe 15-20 minutes before it gets hot and Diablo 3 errors out.... any ideas what this is happening now and wasn't a month ago??

EDIT: I haven't updated any drivers from the ones it shipped with. Maybe I should try updating drivers first?

Are you sure it's overheating and it's not some bug or other error? What are you peak CPU/GPU temps during that 15-20 mins before it crashes?

It sounds more like overheating. The fans on the Blade spin up for a few minutes. Here's a pic of the temps a few minutes before the game errors. Notice the max temps. It'll first start lagging like crazy for ~1min and then error out...

Those CPU temps are within spec. Where's the GPU temp?

Those are the same temps I get during all gaming sessions. Never have a problem. I dont think its a temp issue. What exactly do you mean by Diablo 3 errors out? Does it BSOD? Does it spontaneously shutdown and reboot? Any error message at all?

generally speaking you have a combination of choices
    1) undervolt
    2) force fans on earlier as well as turn them up
    3) both
    4) lower resolution
    5) lower graphic settings

frankly you may be able to get a lot of room out of simply undervolting using intel xtu (search the forums here for details) and dropping your core temps by 5-6 C.
Note 4702 is already an officially undervolted 4700 so one shouldn't per say be afraid of further undervolting ...especially if the game itself isn't cpu bound
basically it comes down to your personal preferences regarding heat, noise, and performance..
and there are a number of ways to tweak these aspects.

Only tried on Diablo 3 cuz it's the only game I've got. Diablo 3 will start to lag like crazy for ~1min before I get an error message the it shuts down and returns me to the Windows desktop. I haven't been able to replicate it after it did it for a few days but once it does, I'll post the temps. I've actually started using Speccy for temps as it looks more user friendly for me...
