I'm looking for a new laptop and considering the new Blade as I want compact and powerful. I don't do any Heavy gaming and have no problem playing at sub FHD resolutions, but just want something that will play Starcarft II, and Tera just fine while also will likely last 3yrs or so. I know I will not use the screen as a touch screen, but is it worth getting the higher resolution display? I'm sure most gaming would likely be better at 1080p anyway.

I'd love to hear some owners feedback.

Get Razer Blade only if you care for aesthetic's,Solid build quality, 14 inch only and a better known brand(or a premiumm brand). All these at a cost of $200 to $400 price difference with other laptops in same segment.
All the remaining features of Razer Blade infact better are present in many laptops at lesser price. But those lack at the above mentioned qualities.

    MSI GS60 pro -
+'s 6GB Vram, Upgradable Ram, More Storage Space, 500$ lesser, 27 Months Warranty
-'s 15 inch (depends on u r req), build quality (flimsy lid)

Aorus X3+ (close to Razer blade, except lid quality)
+'s 6GB Vram, Upgradable Ram, More Storage Space, 500$ lesser, 27 Months Warranty
-'s build quality (VERY flimsy lid), lesser Known brand (When people see and say WOW!! which brand is that laptop, it looks cool, then we need to explain about the company for 10 min, which is quite embrassing, for the fact we paid 2200$+ and people dont recognize it . Thats the main reason I returned my Sager, Aorus and finally settled with Razer)

    P34
+'s 6GB Vram, Upgradable Ram, More Storage Space, 600$ lesser, 24 Months Warranty
-'s build quality, looks kind of cheap, lesser Known brand

    P35
+'s GTX 980M 8GB Vram powerful than any other laptop, Upgradable Ram, More Storage Space, 24 Months Warranty, simple and ok looks
-'s same price, lesser Known brand, 15 inch,

    Alienware 15
+'s GTX 980M 4GB Vram powerful than razer blade, Upgradable Ram, More Storage Space, sexy looks, solid build quality, 24 months warranty, considered premium brand
-'s same price, Bulky (2 times) heavy (1.6 times)

    Sager NP650SG
+'s GTX 980M 4GB Vram , Most Upgradable laptop, 24 Months Warranty, simple and ok looks
-'s lesser Known brand, 15 inch, bit heavy and thick

So, if you are ok with, lesser known brands go with Aorus
if you are ok with heavy and bulky go with AW15
if you want a bit of every thing go with MSI

    Hope this helps.

Actually it did a lot I was not aware of the Aorus X3+ I'm looking into it now. Though if I am only going to get the 1080p Razer it looks like the Aorus will cost about $200 more.

I think both should come at same price... Dont forget about the state tax when you buy the razer blade.. its around 10% for 1080p from where ever you buy. Where as, Aorus you can get with out tax from Xotic or newegg or tigerdirect for around 2200

My work just bought 2 of these beauties. I was one of the fortunate ones to receive it! I am a stickler for quality in build and aesthetic. I hate most Windows Laptops or PC laptops due to it being made of plastic, being overly heavy, loud and frustrating. Normally, I stick with Apple for that reason (and some software).

All of that being said, I have loved it so far! I have the 256GB edition QHD+. The battery has been the only downfall in general use. I range around 5 hours with it. Not bad, but not what I'm used to. The quality is fantastic, keyboard is great and no gripes against the mouse. I haven't tried a game on it yet, but i hope to do so this weekend. I will plug it into my ROG Swift and give it a whirl. Unfortunately, it uses HDMI 1.4a and does not have a mini display port - so no testing it with some higher refresh rates.

In general, if you can afford it and willing to pay for the aesthetic and build - I am quite happy with mine! Razer support has been good - easy to contact and sending me a recovery USB stick, free of charge. Part of me wanted to get it off Amazon, but work preferred directly from manufacturer.

    Good luck!

I purchased my QHD+ Razer about a week and half ago through the Microsoft Store. I chose the Razer because I wanted something I could use for work (IT, Storage Engineer) and to do a little bit of gaming while traveling. I was also considering the Gigabyte p34w-v3 but ended up choosing the Razer for its solid build quality. I really wanted something with a good trackpad and the Razer probably has one of the best trackpads in a PC yet.

The Screen is fantastic although as others mentioned you may face some scaling issues when launching into games you intend to run at lower resolutions. I've just set my desktop at 1080p and it still looks great so no probably there.

I've been using my Razer at work for the last week and for that it's been great. I did run into a strange issue with the keyboard multiplying keystrokes, although this doesn't seem to be a common issue. Microsoft Store agreed to exchange one for me in store. Awesome since I didn't have to be without a laptop for a week or more waiting for the RMA process.

For gaming I've tried Assassin's Creed IV and Arma 3 on it so far and it just shreds them in high/ultra settings at 1080p. If you bump up the resolution your going to take a hit on the FPS but what's the point since it looks great on the small screen at 1080p anyway.

Thanks guys. I ended up with the 1080P version. After tax/and 1-2 day delivery it came to $2133. Hopefully it will be here maybe Tuesday. I have never hit my head on 8GB of RAM and don't expect to soon. If I get to that point then it will probably be 3yrs from now and I'll be looking for a new machine again. I also saw no need to pay for a touch/high res panel that I won't ever use at full resolution or to touch. I feel satisfied in my purchase.

I'll keep an eye on Aorus though, they seem to be a strong up and comer that I have not heard of before.

Thank you for this helpful post. Completely agree with the flimsy lid of the MSI notebooks. Would you say that the Aorus has the same flimsiness to it? Might consider the Aorus X5 if it has a better quality. Another one I'm keeping my eye on is the Asus G501.

I got an idea about Aorus by seeing this video

check that out.. my daily commute includes carrying laptop in backpack. So, if top screen flexes like that when applied some pressure....then I assume some day screen can crack when backpack is placed inverted by mistake or in a hurry. So, that was my biggest reason to avoid X3+. So, analyze how you may use your laptop and decide.

I have been using the Aorus X3+ (V1 with gtx 870m) for 7 months now and i have no issues with the keyboard coming off like that. It does flex, but not like this. I dont think it is a common issue as there is only one thread with this problem.

Screen flex, yes. Infact it is more of the lid being too stiff/not lubricated which has these creaking noises and having to use more effort, causing the flex, to open the lid. But it is a matt screen, which i prefer than glossy. :)

Edit: Since it was a double post, might as well make use of it. Best person to ask which is better, Aorus X3 plus V3 or Razer Blade 14 (15) will be LVNeptune. He has both and best to get opinions from him. :)
