With the new razer blade being released any many of us having been trying to find a screen to upgrade to does anyone think it's possible to now use the new razer blade 14's screen and have it installed in the old razer blade 14?

It's likely not able to get the same resolution as there's a video card conflict, the pins may not be the same and i'm not sure how touchscreen would affect the whole experience.

    any thoughts?

There are a number of reasons why it wouldn't work, the most obvious would be size. Someone on these forums tried to put a different TN screen (with identical connectors and specs to the old screen) in the 2013 and found out that the size wasn't a perfect fit. I can only imagine a thicker touch screen would be next to impossible to install in the old Blade.

the new blade's screen is thicker. look at the overall blade height: old blade 0.66" vs new blade 0.70"

You may be able to buy a whole new panel + screen and do it (maybe). But first you'd have to get razer to sell you a panel, plus get the screen itself. Then you'd still have to see if it has similar cable connections and worked with the 2013.

I don't think it's realistic at all. Possible, maybe. Honestly you would spend more then just selling the 2013, and buying the 2014 I would bet.

My 14" is in for repairs (slipped, fell, dented the lid and damaged the LCD). I can ask about changing it out for the 2014 model, but i doubt it'll be possible.

In case anyone's interested, replacement of the 2013 screen assembly (the whole lid, including the screen) is $270 for the assembly plus another $130 for labor, and that doesn't include shipping. The diagnosis is $100 and that gets applied to repair if you go ahead with the repair.

The $130 includes return shipping, tax applies if your in California.

Razer covers shipping both ways for in warranty repairs.

It wasn't clear on the phone if it is included or not.
This I can attest to. My Gen 1 Blade had a faulty GPU. Razer paid for overnight shipping both ways.

This, unfortunately, is not an in-warranty repair. The $299 warranty extension from Razer does not cover accidental damage, either. At least I didn't waste any money on that.
