Had this idea while having my afternoon tea.

But what do you all think about a Dual monitor + External GPU thunderbolt dock, with ethernet and USB 3.0 connections. the 765M class card is fine for 900p but no one can ever make a thin notebook that would let us game on an external 27 inch monitor.

Razer can pitch this with the next wave of thunderbolt razer blades. Imagine plugging in your 14inch blade into a dual 27inch setup with just one cable and having the graphics horse power to run crysis 4 or whatever. It would be sold without a GFX card so someone can just use it as a dual monitor dock through the notebook GPU if they want. Or razer can make a cheaper version with no external GPU support, like the lenovo one link but more universal. Seems like Lenovo is the only major player in this market right now.

Asus kind of gave up on the idea i think. But the advent of ultra thin laptops with limited support for dual external monitors could really be a nice niche market for razer

Laptop makers don't seem interested in supporting eGPU. They seem very reluctant to even include Thunderbolt. If they make eGPU mainstream, it means people can keep their laptops longer. Also means people don't need to buy a laptop with a beefy GPU anymore.

It would be fantastic to have standard eGPU solutions become mainstream, but in today's world where they try to make everything obsolete as soon as possible, to force you to buy new/upgrade, it doesn't fit in... It sucks, big time.

With that said, I hope to be proved wrong. I heard SilverStone was working on a eGPU solution, but don't hold your breath.
