I thought it would be ideal to have separate threads for both models in the Razer lineup, I noticed that questions tend to be model specific and it's best to be organized now that both models have been released.

Use this thread for comments, questions, concerns, and feedback on the Razer Blade Pro (17" Model)

Me and The Killer Lady support this initiative!

Edit: Oh, by the by, is anyone here using some kind of sleeve? Razer's site says they ship in 4-5 weeks; I don't know if I'm that patient! Are there any other good options out there?

Nothing different about this from the prev gen models than the name and hdd's vid card and CPU ofc but they're all from the same makers. People with an r2 can help someone with Troubleshooting an r3 and vice versa usually, just use the existing owners lounge :)

The problem is really the 14" model dominates most of the conversation for now since its the new toy. IMHO I'd find it useful to have a separate Pro/R2/R1 17" thread this way I can find information and have less distractions about the shipping issues or the 14" lcd to name a few issues. Would be great to have a 17" only discussion area.

The only one I have seen is Razer Blade Pro Review | Ubergizmo but since I own one I haven't really looked too hard. Its a little light on details but its a nice read. I do have to laugh about the complaints that 6.5lb or whatever is heavy though when I was in college at a huge campus (Go Spartans!) I'd carry around my XPS 1730 with 8800 SLI which was probably close to 12 lb with power adapter and I didn't think that was too heavy.

The new 326.19 Beta Drivers from NVIDIA will install without any modifications now which is nice because I couldn't install any of the modified drivers without the installer crashing out. Going to be testing them out now.

    great thread!

My pro arrived at a friends house and he will come to Chile in august. I've read reviews of the 17" panel and it is good quality, much better than the 14" one so we don't need to worry about that aspect. The only thing i ask myself is why didn't they put a 770M considering that they managed to fit a 765M in the 14" one.

Anyways, the good is that the 17" has the advantage of being already the third iteration of a laptop series, that means that the manufacturing process is probably more mature than an eventual R1 generation. Assuming this, most of the units should come without defects.

Agree, great thread. I found myself having to state that my opinion is based from a Pro's perspective. Subscribed!

I packaged the Razer sleeve with my Pro but actually haven't found much use for it. It actually made the unit a lot thicker. Lol. I'm using a Nixon Shadow Backpack and the Blade fits easily at the back laptop sleeve, but with the Razer sleeve it doesn't anymore. Only reason I really want to pack it with a sleeve is to avoid any scratches.

Hey, Spartan; you just downloaded them like that? I've been having problems installing these drivers. They do install, but when I restart the computer I get a BSoD! Something about... God... I'm the IT Guy and I forgot to write the error... kernel something. It then recovers but everything is borked; I basically had to re-install Windows 8... twice, now!

Did you do any kind of mumbo-jumbo?

Yes I downloaded and installed with no modifications and did not encounter any problems. This was from a fresh re-install of the OS from the recovery partition. Now when I tried to install previous drivers using the modified inf file it would always give me issues.

    Ah, the plot thickens!

Do you have nVidia Experience installed?

I just did a clean recovery, and first thing I did as soon as the computer booted was installe the beta drivers. Restarted without an issue. Then I installed nVidia Experience and the Synapse update - boom, BSoD at boot.

Normally the betas don't give such trouble. I'm running them on my desktop... it is funky.

Now I didn't install GeForce Experience, booted a few times correctly then got the same BSoD (System Thread Exception not Handled).

    Weird.

But they (the betas) don't really give THAT huge of an improvement do they? Or are they more catered to optimize your GPU for the newest titles?

I really am not familiar with reinstalling Windows 8, because I'm new at it, worse, I haven't tried it from a recovery drive/partition or anything like that either. That scares me. Lol.

What I did was install the driver selecting the custom option then I deselect the 3D junk, select the clean install option at the bottom and then install. It automatically installed the nvidia experience for me using this method.

In the Synapse program that allows you to choose apps for your SBUI, it has the ability to show a second page of hotkey'd apps. Is there a shortcut or gesture that allows you to do this solely on your SBUI? So basically give you another set of 10 customized hotkeys?

I'd like to make one for my gaming hotkeys and another for school hotkeys, probably gonna place MS Office stuff in there, other useful shortcuts. I can't seem to find any other way to change pages other than inside the Synapse program.

    Any help would be great!

    This seems to have worked!

Now, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but whenever I run an application that uses WPF - when installing Visual Studio 2012, for example, or when I run an application I built there - sometimes the application window gets distorted. Does has anyone else seen this happen?

JoJotaro, that's my understanding, on the panel, that is. And yes, you can install more RAM, but that does technically void the warranty. :(

Just ordered my Pro tonight, so we'll see how long it takes to get here.

Can we simply replace it with the OEM ram sticks if we have warranty issues in the future? Or does opening the chassis break some sort of seal?

Obviously their warranty is not going to cover problems with your aftermarket RAM or SSD, but with HP for example, I was advised by their Customer Care dept. to simply save the OEM hard drive and RAM and put those back in if I had any warranty issues.

From what they told me at Razer, if there's an issue and it's not related to an aftermarket installation of RAM or a new SSD, then they would take care of it even though it still "technically" violates the warranty. They didn't say anything specific to reinstalling the original components if you had to ship it back. So, not sure on that one.

No cooling pad required. But, you do have to be careful not to block the vents on the bottom rear..either prop on one leg, or use a book or board to elevate.

I ordered my Razer Blade Pro 256GB on July 8th tomorrow will be the third week for my order status to say Order In Progress. I hope it ships soon! Have you guys had similar waiting times for your laptops?

Also on a side note I have a spare HDD I'd like to try and put in my Razer Blade Pro when it arrives as I have heard a rumor that there is space for one, is this true?

    Thanks in advance!!

I ordered the Blade Pro 256 on the 8th as well and mine still says Order in Process. I've contacted Razer multiple times and their latest reply on the 22nd said the order is expected to ship on the 29th. Hopefully what they "exspect" is accurate. :/

Base upon recent experience you can expect their estimate to be pretty accurate +/- 2 or so days.

I have been constantly on their website checking my order status as well as their store for how much longer I'm going to have to wait for my laptop to ship. I have noticed that that they update their ETAs every Monday and seeing as tomorrow is Monday I would think it should ship.

I live in Canada and I picked the 2-3 day express shipping, can i expect it to make it to me by the end of the week if it does ship on Monday?

Without a question, especially if it ships on Monday, in my opinion.

My Blade originated from Ontario, Canada which seems to be one of the more frequent distribution centers. It may just be even sooner than the end of the week, hopefully :)

ceag, were you lucky enough to have your laptop shipped out today? Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I've gotten the email from Razer explaining the situation of the Razer Blade Pro 256GB being on backorder. I have been getting frustrated in waiting for my laptop to arrive, but im sure the wait is going to be worth it! I would like to have my Blade Pro by this weekend as I am going away and I would like to to take it with me as I travel. I had purchased the 2-3 day shipping option and if it ships Wednesday it will almost be to late :(!

Nope. Just received an email today saying the shipment has been delayed till August 5th. I'm very unimpressed with Razer at this point. I'm close to canceling my order and just getting another laptop.

I had sent out an email to Razer over the weekend explaining how disappointed in them I was with the backorder (as I had not received an email about the delay until Augest 8th). All I can say is I hope yours is shipped Augest 2nd as well. And i'm sure that the wait is going to be worth it. If you do find yourself cancelling your order might I suggest the MSI GS70, a very comparable laptop to the Razer Blade Pro (better bang for your buck though).

I just wouldn't trust Razer's word anymore. The key word there is "estimated". I had contacted them last wee and they said the estimated shipment for me last week would be the 29th. Just received my email today saying it's estimated to ship the 5th. At this point I might just wait a little longer and get a Retina Mac Book.

    Hi there,

This might be a dumb question, but I own an Alienware and drivers have been hell.

SO question, If I want to go Windows 7 on my Razer Blade Pro. (which i am hopefully ordering tonight), the drivers and stuff for the SUI and everything will be fine right?

tl;dr - Will I have issues going Win 7 with the pro?

    Thanks!

Me (GamerFanatic) and caeg both ordered the Razer Blade Po 256GB on July 8th and it was on back order until July 29th. Then on July 29th I received an email from Razer postponing the shipment of my laptop further (until August 8th). By the time I receive my laptop in the mail it will be close to 5 weeks. We have not had luck with our orders.

Why on earth would anyone want to downgrade to Win7? Win 8 is faster all around, more efficient with memory, and if you don't like the UI, any number of free, or cheap apps will bring back the start button, and hide the modern UI. SMH

Has anyone tried the new beta drivers from nVidia? The 326.41? I understand that basically the only difference is the addition of Shield Stream thingie - which only works on desktops as far as I know. Yet, I wonder if any of you has tried them.
