The memory of my Razer Blade 14 has been slowly increasing over time to 100% due to a memory leak. After tirelessly searching for the problem, I have found it to be SynTP.sys, the Synaptics driver. Has anyone else had this problem? To test (without downloading poolmon):
    Go to Task Manager
    Click on the Performance Tab
    Click on Memory
    Watch the Non-paged pool
When not moving the mouse, it should remain constant at a relatively low value.
Now, move the mouse around with your touchpad rapidly. If the non-paged pool value increased (for me, around ,5MB/s), then the Synaptics driver is causing a memory leak. I have confirmed this leak for myself using poolmon from the Windows Driver Kit.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I was going to install new drivers, but I need to wait until I have access to my mouse again. And does anyone know where to find new drivers? The drivers on the Synaptics website are older than the ones that come preinstalled on the Blade.

I had a 100% memory issue too, but it doesn't happen all the time. If it goes up again, I'll check and let you know if it is Synaptic too !

    Hey there,

I thought I would post a reply to your issue. While I do not have the Razer Blade 14, I have an XPS 12 (Haswell) with the Synaptics Touchpad Driver (16.5.0.42, A02).

The Non-Paged pool keeps climbing until the system memory gets to 99% and my Laptop becomes unusable. Once I reboot the system goes back to normal but the Non-Paged memory pool keeps increasing. Here are some screenshots:

It takes 12 hours for the memory to go from 0% to 99%. Eventually the system runs out of memory, then it starts using Virtual Memory which slows down the system even more.

The Non-Paged memory is caused by the Synaptics Touchpad driver. Poolmon clearly shows this. Without the driver, there is no memory leak what so ever.

I contacted Synaptics but they really do not seem to care about the issue.

Exact same. If it takes 12 hours, I'll get I'd better not use my computer for too long and restart it every 4 hours or so (which is quite fast with the Blade!). That's still sucks though...

I'm having the same problem as well. Wish I came here first, it took me a while to track it down to the Synaptics driver.

I tried a few generic Synaptics drivers, but none of them seem to work with the Blade. Uninstalling the driver works of course, but there's a definite loss of precision, not to mention all scrolling and gesture features. Left alone, my non-paged pool will slowly increase in size, until I eventually have almost no memory left. It doesn't take long for the loss of memory to start impacting performance, and if I leave the laptop on overnight it will eventually blue screen and restart when memory runs out.

The only way I know of to reinstall the Blade's Synaptics driver is via Synapse, it's not even posted on their support page. So if there is a driver update, someone please communicate it here. There's no easy way to know otherwise. And hopefully Razer comes up with a solution soon, a memory leak is a fairly serious and debilitating problem.

I have opened a support case with Razer regarding this issue. I doubt I'll get much of an answer right now, but hopefully enough people will complain to at least make them aware of the problem.

Got a positive update from Razer today. To quote the relevant portion:

So they know and it'll be fixed (hopefully) in a month.

That is good news! So we will be able to download new drivers off the web site once the update is available?

I'm also interested in having these memory leaks fixed. I'm more worried about them than I should be. As with a few posters above, I'm actually an XPS 12 owner.

btobey, I can see from your sig that you're also an XPS 12 owner, and unfortunately it seems that "Synapse" is something specific to Razer laptops and not actually related to Synaptics in general. I think us XPS 12 owners are gonna be stuck with this memory leak for a while to come.

Double A, now I am confused; I thought that the memory leak issue was a more general problem with the Synaptics Touchpad drivers, and that was why it is affecting different computers?

Unless I've missed something (and to be fair, I haven't looked around a lot), this and the XPS 12 are the only ones I've heard of that are affected by the Synaptics memory leak (please correct me if I'm wrong though, as it'll make for some good news to know that the problem is more widespread and thus more noticeable). spike109u recieved a message from Razer support saying that an update will be pushed out via Synapse (a Razer-exclusive thing).

Basically they look like they're set, while we haven't so much as a word from Dell about this.

I got a Razer Synapse update this morning. The fix was not mentionned in the release note but I think it actually fixed the memory leak!

I've been using my computer for hours (5+) now and the non-paged pool is still relatively low (130 Mb) which I think is normal. I used to get 2+Gb in a few hours and at the end of the day 6 Gb of RAM used (now it's 3).

I hope this will continue during next days and to the infinity and beyond !

Try uninstalling Synapse then reinstalling it from Razer Official Website. Synapse2

    Might work ...

The latest update actually screwed my Synapse/computer. If I have Synapse installed, I cannot run Razer Game Booster, I cannot run majority of my games (it runs so slow and I can't even click within the game). All the problems are gone if I uninstall Synapse - but there goes my SBUI on my Razer Blade Pro, and all my custom keys for my Naga/Orbweaver.

Maybe uninstall Razer Synapse, uninstall Razer Game Booster, reinstall Synapse then reinstall Razer Game Booster (which updated two days ago in my case : both the design of the icon changed in the same way so I guess they must be somehow linked).

Sorry to hear that ... in my case the update didn't changed much except fixing the memory leak !

Yeah I basically tried every combination and sequence possible involving Razer Synapse, Game Booster, and Surround. No matter what I try to do, Synapse always seems to be the culprit :(

2nd day without Synapse (no Orbweaver, no SBUI, no custom keys) and I'm learning to play with just my RBP keyboard and a Naga. If this goes on without a fix, I may just retire my Orbweaver (lol, 1 month) entirely and be unable to use the Left-Right buttons of the Naga 2014 mouse wheel.

synaptics is releasing the new driver on the 26th. On top of fixing the issues with the driver. it will add a bunch of gestures to boost win8 performance.

Synaptics or Synapse? Would Synaptics fix the issue we have with Synapse too? Dang, 26th means 2 full weeks of useless SBUI and Orbweaver. Lol.

Ever since I read this post I keep checking the memory usage for synaptics. My laptop has been on all day long, and it is using 0.8 mb. Is this normal?

Hi - I am seeing this exact same issue on an HP Envy X2 with the Synaptics TouchPad as the HID.

Is this now fixed by a Synaptics driver update?

Great to see this issue reported - it has driven me mad recently!

A month after the most recent post in this thread, and I still have this issue with my XPS 12. And drivers straight from the Synaptics website don't work (something about how the touchpad is connected to the MB, I gather), so I seem to be at Dell's mercy.

A wonderful machine, this, but all the little problems certainly do start to add up.

Well, everything was fixed through a Razer Synapse (=/= Synaptic !) Update on the Blade (at least mine). I would recommend you to contact HP or Dell, as they're likely the one to fix it, as Razer did it !
