I was able to add a 160GB (will upgrade later) into the New Razer Blade Pro 2013. I stole the HDD and SATA connected from a old NETbook I had sitting in storage. For those who are interested, the Model number is: HP Mini 210-1079. For those who have a HP Mini laying around it is possible! And I'm sure you can find one on eBay for cheap!

    There will be pictures later!

Thanks! This is great to know in case I decide to add one myself later. Did you run into any trouble? Any indication of opening up the Pro thus voiding your warranty?

Thats some great info! Is the drive you added a SATA III drive and is it showing as a SATA III drive?

The part from HP is like $18.48 and you can order from the HP PartSurfer (Part Number: 589673-001).

    Two pics of the part

Edit: And ouch $11 for shipping. What a ripoff lol.

Yeah anytime you open the Razer Blade laptop you automatically void the warranty. All I had to do is undo the motherboard screws and lift the motherboard half a inch (even less) and the connecter slide into place perfectly.

The HDD I put in was only SATA II, but the connecter should support up to SATA III. It's just the HDD in the HP Mini thats SATA II. And yes that looks like the connecter I put in :) best of luck to you guys :)

    Hope this helped :)

(I'm still working on pictures, just making sure it worked.

Other than knowing you opened it up though, is there a seal or something that would show Razer that you've actually opened it up?

I've read of people opening theirs and Razer having no idea of it.

There are little circle stickers on the screws with a small hole in the centre of the screw (where the T6 should go). I used a paper clip to peal them off then I was able to remove all the screws and get into the bottom of the laptop. There were no seals or warnings otherwise. So if I do have problems with my laptop I could simply remove the drive and cable and send it in for warranty while saying the stickers had fallen off in all its use.

You would probably have to put new adhesive on them to make them stay on, but if you are going to go to support you are going to have to open up the laptop again to remove your 2.5" drive. Else they would already know you opens up the laptop.

I've been waiting for someone to actually update on the 2.5" drive thank you. Have you found a second msata port inside and if so where is it located?

The Razer Blade Pro (17" model) only has 1 mSATA connection and 1 2.5" drive bay. The connecter has been posted on the first page of the thread. It's a single piece from HP, kind or ridiculously priced ($20) for that it actually is.

You'll have to remove the screws in your motherboard and it's just in the bottom right hand corner (see yellow) of the motherboard like previous generations of the RBP.

That is great news...and it is such a waste for Razer not to offer a second drive..I mean really folks..

    1. .BTW..what was the tool used on the screws ?
    2. and to remove the cover to what you have in the picture..did you remove only the 14 screws on the back?

I am going to do this ..but I don't have a tool to remove the screws

Quick question - does the drive bay fit a normal 2.5 inch drive? I noticed that the new Intel 530 drives are now 7mm thick...thinner than the 520 drives.

I believe it was a T6 screwdrive. and it does fit the thicker drives as well as the thinner ones.

    Hi Pro.
I would also would love to know whether the HDD slot fit for a 2.5-inch 9.5mm thick hard drive, or only fit for 2.5-inch 7-mm hard drive?
    Thanks a lot

I installed a 500gb hybrid drive to my razer blade pro 2014, but it does not seem to be showing up anywhere on the computer.

I know it is installed correctly because it is getting power.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Go into Computer Management and select Disk Management, see if it shows up in there. It may just need to be initialized or formatted.

Forgot to mention, when you're in Disk Management make sure to right-click on Disk Management in the left pane and select Rescan Disks. If that doesn't work then something is wrong with your hard drive connection, as Windows isn't seeing it.

This is the connector I got.

HP PAVILION dv7 dv7-6000 Series SATA Hard Disk Drive Connector Adapter CABLE

It seems to fit and give power, but can anyone see why it wouldn't work?

Not only did it not work, but it also somehow broke the trackpad (screen still on, but not sensing movement) after being connected for a couple days.

At first I thought it was just Razer software issues as usual, but I opened it up to take out the connector and the trackpad started working again.

I ordered the connector suggested in this thread and it should be here Monday, so I will update if the new connector works.

If it doesn't work, I think that Razer may have disabled that port in the bios for the 2014 version of the blade pro.

    thanks for update.

that would suck balls if they did disable the connection on bios.

why razer? why? most games are at least 6-8 gb a piece. ugh.

I am curious to know if this worked out. I am considering ordering the 2014 Blade Pro, and whether or not I can connect a second internal drive will determine what size primary SSD I order. If I cannot, I will probably have to order the 128 SSD and take the plunge on replacing it with the 1 TB 840 EVO.

The new connector works great. I guess this means the other one I bought will not work on the blade pro.

So warning to everyone... don't go cheap and order a similar looking connector.

The HP part that was first shown in this thread does indeed work for the Razer Blade Pro 2014.

    I hope this helps everyone.

Thanks for the part number. I am rather a newbie to hard disk drives but it's not possible to hook up another ssd if I am willing to splurge and get a 512gb ssd to the hp connector?

As long as the drive is either the 9mm or 7mm laptop drive (2.5in) it should fit and work properly. SSD/HDD/hybrid should all work the same in the extra bay.

I signed up on this forum specifically to say thanks for this. I was considering both the GS70 and the blade pro but the lack of disk space on the blade pro was a deal breaker.

Now I can order a 128 gig blade pro and add a 1 T disk later.

    Thank you.
