Wow, just wow... I am blown off by the build quality of this laptop (I was a Macbook Pro user and coming from me, it is very well built) Attention to details is just a bit behind of Apple's; however, my first hourly experience has been really smooth and exciting. I am installing DotA 2 and SC2 atm and I cannot wait. The power brick does make a ticking noise when I put my ear right beside it. (Idk if I should check with Razer)

Anyways, I feel like an for sharing this. Happy gaming!

I am hearing some ticking noise coming from my keyboard when I ran SC2 on it. My ear was really close to the keyboard so I was wondering if this is normal.

I have no ticking sound coming from anywhere no matter what game I am playing. I dont even know what could be making a ticking sound. How loud is it and where exactly is it coming from?

The sound is very subtle when idle, but when gaming the sound amplifies. It is coming from the right side of the keyboard. (So IOPJKLNM. position)

My guess would be one of the fans. What else would click, especially under load?

Congrats, btw - loving my Blade! Typing this on it at the in-laws right now. :)

it's most likely an electrical noise, coil whine most likely.

It has gotten worse after a day of use. Now I can hear the ticking noise and high pitch noises when I move the laptop around at idle. I contacted MS and probably going to have a visit for an exchange.

I had the same thing happen with mine, for whatever reason though, it has gone away after a few weeks. I wasn't too worried about the return policy since I bought the 2 year warranty from MS.

I live in Canada and got the Blade at the MS Store because of taxes and all. I payed them a visit today, but sadly no Blade was in stock for an exchange. They've identified the problems (3 so far that I found through 4 days of usage and keep in mind I am picky when it comes down to $2k laptops. I expect it to be perfect.) and gladly asked me to wait til the replacement unit arrives. I got to keep my Blade until then so I am not too angry.

I wouldn't buy anything I wouldn't be easily able to use a warranty for.. let alone a 2 grand laptop. It's nice, but it's obviously not perfect

Just wondering, is anyone bothered by the sharp edges of the bottom chassis near the palm rest? Different from the MBP, the bottom cut is not smoothed to have your wrist rested....

This ticking noise is completely normal, I returned my first blade and the replacement makes the exact same noise. It's subtle and harmless, I think some of us just have more finely tuned ears.

I've got excellent hearing and have squished my ear to the keyboard and do not have any ticking but I did notice the fan spinning when I did that but otherwise it's completely silent. I guess it's just luck of the draw and some units are more prone to ticking/coil whine.
