So tomorrow I will have a 2015 Blade with 256gb SSD and QHD screen.

I am excited to see how it looks, feels in hand and how it performs (never seen one in person). I will post my thoughts and experience. I play almost exclusively dota 2 (just dont have time to get into any others ATM but used to play a wide variety or RPG, MMO and FPS)

I purchased the laptop because I am sick of using my surface pro 3 for school and dota. I will be hauling it everyday to and from University campus so I appreciate the weight and form factor.

I have had many laptops in the past, namely, GS60 Ghost 970m 1080p (battery life atrocious so took back), Asus G551 (too thick and not a fan of plastic), M17xR4 with 7970m (screamed too much gamer and sold because of size), Macbook Retina Pro with 750m (couldnt fall in love it because I feel that apple is gouging me way too hard by charging crazy for a 750m so took back), MSI GT60 & 70 (each for a couple days but was not a fan of neither).

I feel I am going to either love or hate the razer. If I end up sending it back I figure I have 2 options: either get a new Y50 with 960m (hopefully they add a 965m) or a HP Omen (again I hope they update GPU). The reason I choose these is because they are thin, not too flashy and provide adequate battery life. Sometimes I sit and take notes for 3hrs+ with no charge.

    What are you guys thoughts?

Hahaha the Omen looks like a decent machine or is that also riddled with issues? I do agree however. my very first laptop was HP and it cruelly and unexpectedly died on me. The worst thing is that even the HP repair center couldn't figure out why it died.

I did a few battery tests today on Power saver. I got 5 hours of Netflix streaming and 7 hours of light to moderate use. Battery life is quite good for what it is. Build quality is excellent, up there with the SP3 and much better than the other machines that you've mentioned. Especially now that Alienware is going with plastic with their lids. The computer never gets uncomfortably hot unless around the power buttom during intensive games like Crysis 3. The fans were quite tame during CiV 5 maxed out and at native res. The things that are little annoying is the lack of ports and the storage. Had to order a USB to Ethernet cable but we know that going in.

Haha close! It was a Pavilion G6. It had a core i5 and a 6470M. I thought it was such a great deal at the time. Died right after the warranty.

Ok so got the blade and it won't boot. I get a message saying computer was restarted unexpectedly or encountered error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install click ok to continue and restart the installation.

Not impressed at all considering it doesn't work out of the box on a $2500 laptop. I can't get into recovery mode because fn f9 or any other combo won't get me into it. On hold with the Microsoft store. Yikes!

Edit: messed around in recovery mode. Nothing. It couldn't repir itself. Sigh I'm returning it.

That sucks man. It's quite a nice laptop when working. Just don't touch their thermal compound or the internet will haunt you. I'm proof of this :p

Haha, ya I do not plan on messing around with the thermal compounds. I am all for lower temps but find the stress tests are exactly that, not too indicative of gaming in which fps fluctuates with stress level. Either way its more than enough power for me.

I dropped off the package back already. I wanted them to ship a new one out while I drop this one off and they said I would have to wait 3 days for them to recieve the old. I said that is bull. So I paid for a another one. I then talked to a store rep supervisor and expressed my frustration. How often do you pay $2500 for something and it doesnt work right out of the box!?! He escalated it to the compensation dept so hopefully I get something. I told him if they can give the extra warranty at no cost that would be could but I have to wait and see.

You got unlucky. Hopefully your next device comes without defect. This is one of the best all round machines out there.

Ya I hope so! I really liked how it looked and felt. I would say it is 99% identical/reminds me of my girlfriends retina mbp. I had no idea they were that similar. Also it so so slim, kind of amazing actually! Keyboard felt nice as if typing will be a breeze and that is all I can really comment on for now.
