Based on what I've been reading and seeing the high reflection on the high res screen plus being biased towards matte screen (It's what I use at work) I've decided that I want to try out a 2015 Razer Blade Matte with the 970m. I know the HDD is limited to 256 which doesn't bother me because I can upgrade that myself should I choose to down the road. However I'm a bit concerned about being restricted to just 8gb of ram and would feel comfortable with 16gb.

Now i know what most of you are going to say, that you really only need 8 to play this games and that game. However I can tell you that certain games I play are poorly optimized and have varied load times like Company of Heroes 2. And that 30 second delay can easily be the difference between winning and losing.

The most demanding games at the moment recommend 8 GB. As of now, nothing recommends more but it's likely that games will start asking for more in the future. So if you're planning to keep your Blade for more than 2 years, you should get 16 GB of RAM.

You will never see any lag due to only having 8GB of RAM. In any game if you are lagging for 30 seconds you either have a connection issue with your ISP, or your machine is really working hard on something it shouldn't be doing.

You will have no issues with the 8GB of RAM.

I didn't say lag, I said delay. As in 30 second delay while loading into a Company of Heroes 2 Map while in Multiplayer. In detail what this means is that while others have loaded and begun playing you're still loading and will come into the game late. Granted I did say the game was poorly optimized and constructed (For not holding the other players until you've properly loaded) but in any case it is still a case. Play enough team games and observe/watch your teammates and it's clear as day that is not a coincidence.

8GB RAM is perfectly fine for gaming as long as you don't have a bunch of apps open in the background while playing. Most games don't use more then 3-4GB tops, plus whatever Windows is using.

That sounds like an issue with a slow drive.

that's not a ram issue.. that's either a slow drive like altecxp said above, or slow internet.
