    Hello,
I thought I would share some pretty good information with all of you fellow Razer Blade owners. Here is my story.

So I recently went RAID 0 on my Razer Blade 14". I made a USB Recovery drive before doing so. Only problem was, my Blade refused to boot from it! So I lost my stock config. I contacted support, long story short, they sent me a free USB Recovery drive. Best part of all? It is the stock config already upgraded to Windows 8.1 with all of the newest drivers.

It's nice of razer to provide you with a free recovery drive if you're experiencing problems

However, purposely calling customer support and lying about a situation to get the free recovery drive is not something we want to see our members encourage in their posts, it falls under the warranty fraud part of the rules. We can't tell you what to do and what not to do outside of NBR, but it's our job to insure that posts fall within the forum rules.

Who knows, razer might just send you the recovery USB for free if you ask them considering that the blade is a premium product, this level of support can be expected.

Razer talks about this item in their FAQ, but for some reason it is not sold in their online store.
I'm surprised it does not ship with the laptop, considering these things only cost $5 a pop or less when purchased in bulk and have negligible weight when packaged with the laptop.

Same with Dell/Alienware... If you call Tech Support and simply ask for it, they will generally send it for free. It's not offered for sale. I believe they cannot technically provide it as an upgrade to an existing Windows 7 license.

I think there may be some sort of restriction in their deal with Micro$oft from Windows 8 forward where distributing OS installation media is discouraged. It's really stupid, but they are probably doing what Micro$oft has asked them to do in this regard. The big push from Micro$oft seems to be forcing customers to create image recovery media for a factory OS restore instead of being able to do a clean OS install.

Could you tell me what number it says under "model" on your USB? They sent me a USB and it says Model RC30-00710100, but I'm not sure if it's Windows 8 or 8.1. Any idea how to figure out which version it is?

That's good customer service, guess it's not too much to ask for a $4k laptop.

So that means you can get one of these and delete the recorvery partition on your hard drive? That should clear up a nice 16gb!

Tijo is correct. I literally just asked Razer to send me a recovery drive so that I could delete the recovery partition and recover the lost space, and they did so without issue. I to would advocate being honest versus lying.
