Does anyone know if there's a dock for the 2014 Blade? I figure something like the ThinkPad is too much to ask for, but something that incorporates cooling, USB hub and monitor port would be very useful.

There is no dock connector. Anything connected through usb won't use the intel or Nvidia gpu. It will have a cheap video chip enough for desktop only.

That's unfortunate. This may be a stupid question, but does the same apply to the HDMI port?

No, the HDMI is similar to the internal screen. The intel handles the final video output to the screen and you can choose to have the intel or the NVidia do the graphics processing.
