Put my Blade to sleep at 11pm with 97% battery last night.

Today I came home from work and connected external speakers(powered) and an external 1920x1200 display with KB and mouse connected to it. Home WiFi is N. I then watched 6 22min streaming anime episodes, a 7 min YouTube video, had chrome with multiple tabs open, Tor Browser with 2 tabs, Skype and Yahoo Messengers. In the back ground Google Drive, fluffyApp, and all the stock nvidea/Razer apps. I also did about 30minutes of Minecraft, also while watching twitch, at the same time as one of the anime eps played.

I managed to get with 1 notch up from the lowest brightness on the LCD and keyboard(both comfortable for me in my dark room), 4hrs and 48min before the machine went into hybernate at 5% battery. If I was only doing light browsing and document reading I can easily see getting over 5.5 or even over 6 hrs on battery.

That's almost a full work day on a gaming laptop. Undervolt a bit and I can see it getting even better.

actually not that noticeable. but then again, it's still fairly cold here in NYC, so i won't really find out til summer comes along. but it's pretty much on par with my 13" MacBook Pro.

i keep it at balanced but tweak it to have more battery saving. doesn't really matter.. you can have it on power save and still configure it to perform at max when plugged in

Double check your settings and make sure that your dGPU isn't starting up without you knowing. With light./moderate use you should see between 6+ hours of use.

How do I check this? I've looked through power settings. 6+ hours would be amazing. I wouldn't even have to take my charger to school with that kinda usage.

How do I make sure? I still only get 2 1/2 hours in power saver mode.

That probably explains it. Your machine is pushing many, many more pixels. This is why the 2013 Blade which had a 1600x900 TN panel had something like 6-7 hours of battery while the 2014 model with a 3200x1800 resolution had 3-4 hours.

What you could try and do is go into balanced / powersaving advanced settings, and then change the CPU utiliization from 100% to 99% This disables the computers ability to run turboboost when you use it in balanced/power saving mode.

computers will sometimes go into turbo boost even when watching youtube or doing other not-every-intensive stuff. this helps with battery and temperatures. Performance will vary.

Finally lastly, batteries are not created equal. this goes for all electronic devices. sometimes you have a device with really poor yields, just like you sometimes get a laptop with dead pixels in the screen or higher than usual temperatures for the CPU. it sucks, but buying electronics is often a lottery.

you could download a program like battery checker (i think its called) and see if it discharges as it is supposed to. then you can at least see if there is something wrong with the battery or.
