Anybody sucessfully cross-flashed another VBIOS on a RB15 yet? I'm able to get other VBIOS with similar checksums on the card but always error 43 in WIndows, even after full DDU and reinstall drivers ...

Which version do you have? Are you using the patched nvflash?

    https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash-with-board-id-mismatch-disabled/ works just fine

I'm trying to flash similar Device ID/checksums and the file will take and show as 1070 Max Q in Device Manager but always showing Error 43 when I reinstall NVIDIA drivers - is there some trick to getting your laptop to recognise the wrong VBIOS flashed? I have a feeling it might be something embedded in the Razer EC firmware stopping it from allowing a modded file.

After looking inside the .INF files it seems that the only PCI-E/Subsystem ID the RB15 is expecting for the 1070 Max Q is 10DE-1BA1-1A58-2000 which seems to be some sort of custom VBIOS file as I can't find any that match exactly but there are plenty of 10DE-1BA1-XXXX-XXXXs in the Techpowerup collection.

Perhaps there's a way to mod the .INF files to be accepting a different Subsystem ID? Every time I flash a 1BA1 VBIOS I'm getting a Error 43 driver error - even if I use DDU beforehand then fresh install the NVIDIA drivers.

Bump again - now I'm getting GPU matches with BIOS files too big (253kb vs 232kb) different checksums (55AA vs 4E56) AND different PCI-E IDs (1BA1 vs 1BE1) on an unmodded official NVFlash ... nothing making sense here. Has anybody cracked the code with what Razer VBIOS are compatible?

Why not going back to the original vbios?

I can go back to the original no problems now - trying to flash something with a higher TDP. :)

For example - I can't understand how this VBIOS https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/186340/asus-gtx1070mobile-8192-160713 shows as a match on an unmodded official NVFlash despite being a totally different Device ID (1B E1 vs 1B A1), Subsystem ID ( 1A58 2000 vs 1043 1470) AND filesize difference (2 33kb vs 2 53kb) yet a VBIOS like this one https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/213197/213197 with Device ID, similar file size and very close checksum will flash sucessfully but after rebooting and clean installing NVIDIA drivers I can't get past the Error 43 driver error. Is there something I'm misunderstanding here?

This’s copy paste pm with @hackness msi vbios flashing expert here on the forum.
...Which also means if you want to flash yours to a full 1070 mobile vbios from other systems, you might have to find hardware ID that's listed 10DE 1BE1 to be compatible to yours.
And also when you open the vbios with Pascal TDP editor, it'll have to be showing 55AA next to checksum, 4E56 seems to be for G-sync only...
I wanted to flash vbios Asus gl502vs (1070 gsync) for fun but unsuccessful however with stock 90watt i can manage FS overall above 15K, so I’m good for now.

Is it possible to search for BIOS that contain 1BE1 specifically?

Yes 2 1070 full mobile gpu vbios uploaded on powertech from Asus one gl502vs has 1BE1 but it is g sync than maybe culprit I couldn’t reflash it. There’s other gpu that use same id, you can check it there.

I've tried the 2 official 1070 Max Q mobile BIOS and they show driver error 43 when I reboot - do you know how to fix this?

I know that error on egpu setting mostly on macbook bootcamp Setting users did work around that issue by I think plugging the TB3 (that connects the gpu on the enclosure) right after boot idk on vbios flashing.

I had the exact same problem with the 1070 Blade, I must have tried 50 VBIOS each time clean installed with DDU.

No, it's not possible without an SPI Programmer.
