Hi fellows who own the Razer Blade 14,

I want to create this thread to create some sort of agreement on this matter. From what I gather, there are two noises associated with this system: The buzzing/electrical noise and the repeated clicking noise. You can hear these noise if you hold the charger next to your ear. The buzzing/electrical noise in my understanding is ok because all of the chargers from other systems I own also make this noise. However, is the repeated clicking noise ok?

From What I gather, I'm not the only one who has the charger that make this noise. At least there are few other people has this problem. I asked the Razer customer supports and they were unclear about this. I asked them through email that if the clicking is okay and this is what they replied to me while I'm waiting for the replacement they send"
"Clicking may occur as well. The sounds should not be heard any more than the cable length away from the power supply (3') "

So it seem that the clicking is there not something defective. The system charge fine with it. So felas, what is your thought on this? I agree that these noise shouldn't exist on 2000$ system but is this something to worry about?

Update: I just realized now that the clicking is only occur when the AC adapter is unplug from the laptop, when it is plugged into the laptop, the clicking is gone, only the slight buzzing is there

I'd say the clicking is not common, but uncommon. It hasn't caused any issues however razer hasn't declined replacing a power supply because of it.

What do you mean by "not common, but uncommon" felas, I don't quite get it. The reason I think they hasn't declined replacing it because they have no way to measure the degree of how loud the clicking is. Sometime they say clicking is ok, sometime is not...I don't want to say this but it seem the customer support don't know much about hardware stuff. That's why I'm seriously thinking if this is an issue or in this such beasty power supply, noise like this can happen

There have been other users that have had the issue. At least a few so i don't think its a rare issue. However none of the users stated that they had issues. Just the sound.

Razer replaced my original power supply with a new one. The original one was clicking repeatedly and loudly. The new one does not.

Can you describe how loudly it is? Can you hear it if your laptop on the table and your charger is on the floor. I can only hear mine if I hold it right next to my ear (the clicking and buzzing one)

Mine was on the floor with my Blade on my desk. From up here it was more of a "tick tick tick" like an annoying clock. When I put it in my hand it was a "click click click" about like the left and right click below the touchpad on the Blade.

    Hmmm,

So that seem to be really loud...I can only hear my clicking if I put it right next to my ear. I can't hear the buzz or the click if I'm like 12 inches away from the adapter. And this clicking happen only when the adapter is unplug from the laptop. when I have the AC adapter plug into laptop, the clicking gone. I guess it should be fine then

I think your case is similar to mine. I just want to add a positive comment, my power brick has been working better than in the beginning, i dont know why, there is minimal buzzing.

Mine clicks when it is not plugged into the laptop. It is annoying. I have had a replacement sent to me already, plus I own a spare. they all click. Just helping to confirm. I'd love to know if razer ever decides to repair/replace with a newer, non-clicky model.

Thank you buddy, your case is exactly the same as mine as the charger only click when it is not plugged into the laptop. I think due to the powerful 150W packed into such a small chassis, it is reasonable to make some noise

My original and first replacement clicked when not plugged into the laptop. The Razer support guy was really cool and just sent another. The newest replacement no longer makes the crazy clicking noise.

You can eventually get one that doesn't make the annoying noise.

I agree that by luck, we all will get one without the clicking noise. However, the question is whether or not it is worth the try. From the conversation I had with quickie, one of the member in this forum, who has his replacement that doesn't make the clicking sound, he stated that the clicking come back after few days of usage. Therefore, it seem to me that this is a very normal nature of the power adapter, and of course I don't want my replacement will be worse than my original one.

Now from what I talked to Razer representative, they told me that this clicking is normal and as long as you can't hear by having it further away from you, it is ok. I think i will keep my original one since I can only hear it if it is not plugged into my laptop and I'm half a feet (12 cm) away from the power brick, or if I put my ear right next to it, which is never the case in normal use. I will see how my replacement be like and tell you

    Update from Razer Blade support:

So I got my replacement today. It still make the clicking when i put it close to me and actually it is kind of louder and more repeat than the one I had before, so I decided I will keep my original one

About the clicking, they said that they check all of their stock chargers and they all made that little clicky sound if they put the adapter next to ears. They also said if the charger is defective, it should make a loud clicking that you can hear across the room. They also said for those defective charger, in some case, the LED light is not on. Also, the buzzing is totally normal. Therefore, there is no need to replace because it is normal and all of their stock chargers do that

I think I feel good now. I'm sure if it get worse in the future, Razer sure will exchange the new one for you
