So I got a 2015 Razer a few months ago and overall it's a really solid machine. I've been using open hardware monitor to watch the temperatures and the GPU never goes over 80C or so no matter how hard I push it. However, the CPU is recording temperatures of 70C idle (seems a bit high) and then 100C under load which is definitely too hot.

So Razer users on the internet, would you be willing to share your thoughts?

    - What's the normal operating range for the CPU?
    - What are your guys idle\load temperatures?

I've noticed that the high temperatures is ironically a lot of time when idling or alternating between heavy and light loads, because the fan is trying to turn on an off and not really keeping pace. I think that if the laptop kept the fan running at a low speed all the time it would be a lot better... when the fan is on idle temps are 10C less.

    - Anyone found a good way to manually adjust the minimum fan speed?
    - Seems silly to let the CPU overhead over a 20$ fan but I'm not sure if it's user serviceable? Would I be screwed if the fan started to wear out?

Unfortunately I can only tell you that mine (2014 Blade) is around 40-42C idling in windows, goes up to like 47-48 when I'm using Chrome/YouTube/farting around... It can get into the mid 90's under EXTREME heavy load.. I was playing Witcher3 just now for about 5 minutes or so and it peaked at 72C..

Wow that is a huge difference? Sounds like the laptop may be running in some kind of throttled mode?

It wouldn't be hitting 100 if it was throttling. Sounds like the thermal interface either isn't seated properly or maybe bad application of thermal interface material ("paste")

If you think you have a bad thermal application you've got to let Razer fix it for you. Reapplying thermal paste will kill your warranty. Basically, doing anything inside will kill your warranty. But you could check for dust in your fans first; a very dusty fan can murder temps (both gaming and under no load). I don't think Razer has a way to prove you cleaned dust from your fans... yet.
