    Hi Guys ,

I have a 2019 Advanced Razer Blade 15. When performing the bios update for 1.04 to 1.05 windows threw a Bsod and now the monitor is blank . Tried the common steps but no luck with getting the system to boot . Only the keyboard lights up . Is there anything I can do here ?

If you can get a full BIOS dump you could try flashing it using an hardware programmer.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience working with hardware programmers even if I do have the bios file . Is there another way via an usb or something ?

Hi, bummer.. Unfortunately senso is right, you'll need a chip programmer.

    You can either -
    - Order the tool and learn how to use it (plenty of help in this Forum)
    - RMA with Razer/Microsoft/whatever warranty/insurance you have
    - Ship your blade to someone and pay them to flash it for you

    Best of Luck

Is there a thread that I can learn this from ? I’m willing to try it out if I can avoid the Razer RMA

    This thread is fine.
You will need a basic CH341A programmer with a SOIC clip, you can buy that from eBay or Aliexpress for less than 5$, then you will need to take your laptop apart and post some photos so we can help you identify the correct BIOS chip.

Do you think this is alright ?

    https://shopee.sg/product/87828950/6120738629?smtt=0.0.9

Besides , I had a word with Razer tech support and it’s absolutely awful . After so much time verifying data like every serial number part number and so on for charger and laptop and me explaining my problem clearly , they sent me an email asking me to try booting into safe mode . Lmao . I absolutely regret my choice of getting a Razer rather than another Alienware which I have had for 10 years (2 laptops ) and tech support has always been top notch with on site service . Razer is just the opposite it seems

Yea that programmer will do the job

Sorry you have to go through Razer.. they make AWESOME products, but their customer support is trash.

I recommend buying Razer laptops from Microsoft Store, Best Buy, or Amazon because of their warranties, and customer support.

I’ve ordered the programmer while I’m also trying to get Razer to do a RMA . I’ll update here once I receive the tools or Razer does the RMA

I’ve ordered the tools as well as a set of torx drivers . They’ll take time to get here though , which is why I’m also trying Razer RMA which is just 8 odd kms away . But quite true to what I’ve heard here , the responses so far have been pathetic . I got this 2080 MQ blade for 2k or else I would not even have gone with Razer . It was by far the cheapest for 2080 MQ notebook. Regret it already .

Has anyone managed to successfully install the v1.05 bios for the early 2019 blade 15 advanced model ?

You want to identify the chip via the size of the bios vs the size of the chip. After you want to confirm it's the right chip by reading in the data and comparing it to the bios version you were on and the bios version you were attempting to flash it to.

Look for differences between the two. Make sure that you can identify it as actually being the bios chip. On the 2018 Blade I revived it had overwrote the first part of the BIOS with some other data bricking it. I would make a dump and post it here.

Had this same issue. Anyone want to help me identify BIOS chips? lol. Just got my programmer in today. Here are some pics. Tried to get the numbers easier to read, but this was the best I could do.

    2019 Razer Blade Advanced with a 2060 and 8th gen i7.

Which Blade? On my 17 Pro the chip that needed read/written to was sticking out of a square hole cut out in the gold heatsink thing.

Tbh I suspect it's under the heatsink - the 17 has a special little square cut out for it as I say, looks like the 15 doesn't.

Possibly. Was checking this thread that was linked previously: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...l-to-unlock-all-hidden-options.830993/page-26

They show on the 2020 model, it's this chip: http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachments/bios-chip-location-jpg.187048/

However mine isn't a Winbond there, It's a gigadrive, and I can't find the exact model number for use with the programmer software.

Using a Linux machine might pick it up automatically - they're deisgned to work with these kind of chips natively.

Check the windbond model there against gigadrive chip and try reading the contents using the comparable winbond chip settings.

Better yet take a picture close up to read the printing on the chip or list the full print here.

I never could find the correct chip in mine. Connected to each one and read it, none seemed to be correct. I sent mine to Razer and got it back pretty quickly. About 3 weeks from first chat to getting it back.

I did locate all the bios files and such though. So if you find the right chip but need help on the software side of things let me know.

I was able to get connected (had to bend the pins out on the one I got) but guess I am having a hard time finding the correct bios file. The CH341A Programmer is looking for a bin or hex file. Do you happen to have the original bios in these formats?

It's underneath the copper plate my man - on the 17 there's a square cutout exposing the chip (I imagine on purpose for easy access.)

Oh sure that does look like the chips - read them both and see which dumps a 16mb file, that'll be the BIOS chip.

If I remember right that's definitely the right chip type it's detecting. Are you able to get a read out of 16mb? Attaching the clip is very finnicky yes.

Make sure the read is valid. save it to a rom file, and try to open with amibcp to see if its valid. that means your clip is well seated. click erase, wait 5 minutes, then you can now flash the recovery BIOS image you get from the razer bios updater or if you downloaded somebody elses bios.

I saved the files by save as and selecting all files and naming it chip.rom opening in amibcp said failed to open file, does that mean that the bios is not on that chip?
