Anyone recommend a nice slim cooling pad for the Razer 14 when traveling?
Most of the cooling pads out there are more bulky than the actual laptop. I came across two slim ones:

    Cooler Master NotePal i100:
Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal I100 - Laptop Lap Desk with Cooling Fan (R9-NBC-I1HK-GP) - Black: Computers & Accessories

    Material:Metal Mesh, Plastic
    Weight:0.68 kg / 1.5 lbs
    Dimension:350 x 250 x 23~39mm (0.9 inch thick)
    Fan Dimension:140 x 140 x 15mm
    Fan Speed:1200 rpm+/-15%
    Fan Speed Adjustment:Single speed
    Fan Airflow:38 CFM
    Fan Noise Level (dB-A):21 dB(A)

    Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim:
Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLI-GP): Computers & Accessories

    Material :plastics, Metal mesh, Rubber,
    Weight:1.54 lbs / 0.7 Kg
    Dimension:380 x 270 x 27.5~46 mm (1.0 inch thick)
    Fan Dimension:160 x 15 mm fan
    Fan Speed:1400 +- 15% R.P.M.
    Fan Speed Adjustment:Single Speed
    Fan Airflow:70 CFM
    Fan Noise Level (dB-A):21 dBA

Anybody have any experience with either of these or other slim brands/models?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Zalman NC2000 and before that the NC1000.

Can't say how good it is since I haven't (yet) got my Blade 14, but it's a very nice cooler and very well built. The black one would go very well with the Blade I'd imagine since its also made with a solid block of aluminium.

Just needs a green LED as opposed to a blue one and it'd be perfect.

Edit: unfortunately it's not particularly slim but it's gorgeous instead. Fair trade in my opinion :p

I think I have the NotePal x-slim one, and its not very slim :p I personally was ok with the design, but there are some weak points. The fan isn't particularly strong, but it is my first cooler ever, so I'm not sure if all laptop cooling pads are just supposed to be roughly this strength. The dual usb head thing is annoying, as it is pretty sharp and you can easily scratch yourself when fiddling blind around in the back or just on the side if you don't pay attention.

I own the NC2000 and I agree it is too bulky but cools nicely.

People in newegg have complained about the sharp corners of that USB plug. I guess it must be true.
It's one of the slimmest coolers that money can buy, second only to the Coolermaster i100 which has even less airflow.

Not the slimmest options in town by far however here are my votes.
RBP Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal U3 - Laptop Cooling Pad with 3 Movable Fans: Electronics

RB Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal U2 - Laptop Cooling Pad with 2 Movable Fans (Frustration-Free Packaging): Electronics

I have the U3 for my RBP and it fits like it was made for it can't speak first hand on the U2 but my U3 is almost 2 years old and does a great job. I have one at work and one at home which covers 90% of my use anywhere else I just go without.

The best one I have found was the Coolermaster U2 Plus. I had the Coolermaster U2 for my Alienware M14xR2 and I loved it. So I got the newer model for my Blade 14". It fits it perfectly. It is the same width as the Blade pretty much. It is not the thinnest, but it elevates the back of the laptop. Typing feels much more comfortable as opposed to having it flat. The main reason I like these cooling pads is because the fans are movable, so you can place them right under the intakes on the bottom of the Blade.

Newegg.com - Cooler Master NotePal U2 PLUS - Laptop Cooling Pad with Two Configurable High Performance Fans - Black

EDIT: Forgot to add that it also doesn't take up a USB port because the USB plug has a pass through.

^What kind of a difference does it make in terms of temps? I'm debating picking one up

The plus has better/quieter fans. The U2 I had originally had loud fans. One of them even ticked a little. The U2Plus they upgraded the fans. Much better! The only thing I can compare temps to is when I play League of Legends. After hours of play my Blade would hit around 70c tops. With the Blade on the U2plus it only hits 65c. The elevation helps a lot to. Typing is much more comfortable.

Interesting my U3's are not the Plus but the fans are silent love it. If I ever need to replace the fans I will check into ordering the fans alacart direct from Cooler Master. Hmm, perhaps 2 sets of fans on one pad... that could be cool

To those using the U2 coolers, I read that it's a pain to keep removing the fans and re-mounting them. One reviewer said that eventually the fan mounting mechanism broke because of repeated re-mounting. Any thoughts on this?

For those not familiar with the U2 cooler, the cooler is supposed to "wrap" around the laptop during transport to make things more compact, but in order to do this you must first dismount/remove the fans.

I also saw some reviews saying that the U2 scratched the lid of their laptop in the "storage position" with the fans removed and laptop inserted into the bottom of the cooling pad. Is it a bad idea to slip the laptop into the cooler using this so-called "storage position"?

Reviews of cooling pads in general report a temp difference of between 8 to 10 degrees Celsius during heavy load, which is a lot.

It's perfectly fine to run the laptop full load with no cooling pad. The main advantages for cooling pad are:
    1. Laptop can be placed on your lap when needed, without heating up your lap and groin.
    2. Less heat means less wear on electronic components including the battery.
    3. In hot summer months if you use the laptop in a room with no air conditioner, the cooling pad helps a lot.
