Looking to get a 2016 Blade QHD with 512GB or 1TB

Are there any deals I should be aware of?

What stores are my best bet?

I've seen most people get it from the Microsoft store but they seem out of stock.

    Thanks!

in 5 years as a PC hardware enthusiast, I've not once seen a Razer laptop on sale with more than 5% off. So yeah. Buy from HIDevolution if you can - their warranty, unlike Razer's horrible support, is actually good and they have you covered in case the previous Blade mosfett problems are also present on the 2016 edition (the 2014/2015 RB14s had a pair of mosfetts right under the heatsink - those would overheat and fail randomly - check Louis Rossman on youtube)

Look on Razer's site for refurbished laptops. You'll get around a ~20% discount, or in that ballpark depending on your configuration.

Otherwise, look on eBay for 2016 and earlier models. Most of what I saw for past-generation Razer blade laptops are about 40%-50% depreciation in value; so you can get a great deal.

Hidrevolution's price is almost $300 more than the Razer store itself, that's disappointing.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy from Razer directly - their customer support is the worst in the industry without question. 300$ from HID is worth as if your 2000$ laptop breaks, at least SOMEONE will fix it.

Actually the MOSFETS failing were the Main Power ones for AC and BATT...they werent under the heatsink. Occasionally the high side charge MOSFET and and POWER IC fail. Most common issues seem to be related to where the main power rails begin, voltage divider, and the charge circuitry. i've seen a couple VRM's under the heatsink failing as well, and sometimes a clock chip. All of these problems are mostly on the 2013 and 2014 blade 14, however the 2015 has a few of the same problems but with a lesser failure rate. Can't speak of the 2016 yet, Id love to take a look at one though.

My bad, thought the power in mosfet was under the heatsink due to the power in port placement. But yeah, I would advise caution as I'm unable to find a picture of the 2016 motherboard.

That's the thing - the VRMs in question on the 2015 one and the BIOS chip were under the heatsink - we also didn't see what's under the SSD.

checked the video. Whats interesting here is that the 2016 seems to have a substantial design change around the charge circuitry. For better or for worse? Impossible to tell from photos. I would love to get some readings on it and am particularly interested in if they changed the controller. Still would I suggest it? NO. they have a track record of failures in every model. They need to prove themselves with an iteration that is not riddled with failures. That will take a year or two to do so once they have a good product on their hands.

One thing I'd like to see make a return is the heatspreader on the GPU and CPU from the 2013 model. Currently, the best way to reduce temps is apparently sanding the pipes. That should not be the case on a 2000-2500$ machine.

If there's a kaby lake blade and I buy it, I will send it to you first to take a look.

Sounds good, I still wouldn't recommend one though, unless you must :) There already is a kaby lake blade stealth. I assume you mean a kaby lake blade 14? Well hopefully they have some of the flaws worked out by then.

Yeah the 14. I'm curious if they are a legitimate company or not. If there are internal defects and they are using the same screen for the next refresh, I think we have our answer.
