So, I just got the new Razer Blade 14 on Friday, and I've been having lots of issues getting games to run at 1600x900. Whenever I select it as the resolution for the game, it just goes back to the previous window whenever I try to get in game. As one would imagine, this is quite frustrating since there isn't much on the planet that can run 3200x1800 properly, nevermind this laptop. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Really? Mine works just fine.

I right click on the desktop, go to 'screen resolution'. From there, you will see 'resolution'--select '1600x900'.

Then in the game you set the resolution to "1600x900". At least it works on both League of Legends and SimCity.

So far, I the only time I really use 3200x1800 is when I use Photoshop and edit photos.

To be frank, as far as gaming experience goes with only a 14-inch screen, I don't see as much difference in picture quality as I see the difference in frames per second.

I can definitely tell the difference. D3 and Titanfall look gorgeous at native res.

When you say you don't see any difference, are you referring to the crispness/clarity of the graphics? Every game I play at 1600x900 is highly pixelated, it just looks like someone magnified my screen a few times.

Is that from a 14-inch screen? The difference is still noticeable, but depending on the games you play, there is that frame rate tradeoff. 30fps is where I draw the line and if below 25, I would lower the resolution. SimCity, the first game I tested, is a great example. Even though there are no options to raise the resolution to 3200X1800 or equivalent, I would stay at 900 just because the frame rate is at around 30, bearing in mind that the city map I was playing is completely developed.

On the related note, I usually sit no less than 18 inches from the screen. At this distance, there is some mild difference in clarity. When plugging into a 21-inch monitor, on the other hand, your point would make sense.

I sit the same distance from the screen as you, the issue I'm describing is on the 14" screen. The game I'm specifically having an issue with is Rome II Total War. I'll see if I can take a video/picture of it later.

If your problem is anything like the elder scrolls online issue refusing to change res, then it might be because of the dpi scaling. To fix that you just right click on the shortcut cut in the properties turn off dpi scaling.
