If you mean coil whine from the asdf key area, yes a little. Very quiet though

on the second one, I would open it to see if it's something with the fan that is either loose or a wire in the way. If it can't easily be fixed, return it.

The first one is going to depend on how loud it is. Mine is pretty quiet and doesn't bother me much. It seems like such a widespread issue too

Edit: sorry, I hit send by accident too early. Anyways, I would probably send it back for being unbalanced anyways, but be prepared for your replacement to have the same coil whine. I bet almost all units have the issue to some extent and some people are just more tolerant than others.

Will I void my warranty if i open it up to see if a wire is touching the fan?
Or if i want to upgrade the ssd, as well..?

Also, 2 things i would like to compare with another blade 2016 owner.
Does ur power supply unit get extremely hot under load? So hot u cant hold it in ur hand for more than 7-10 seconds...
And does ur blade get very very very hot un its bottom side in the middle?
Do u game in bed/ how bad is it if during web surfing watching youtube videos, the fan vents below will be covered by bed sheet... :)

Covering up the vents and gaming would obviously be idiocy. Why even ask?

not talking about gaming, talking about placing it for 10 min or so while its playing a video or simply opened on web browsing...
of course i wouldnt game and cover it... its hot enough as it is...

Ahh.. The "do you game in bed" part of your question threw me.

It shouldn't void your warranty just to look. If you read Razer's warranty policy, it says they don't cover damage caused by upgrades. So just don't damage your laptop when you upgrade it. :) They also won't cover the new SSD obviously.

Yes the Power supply gets hot. It's super small and yet the same wattage as other power bricks so the heat dissipation is almost nil in comparison.

The bottom middle is the hottest spot - there's no fan there. Luckily that's usually the space between your thighs underneath. I game on my lap a lot, as I did with my old GS60. Obviously it's not the most comfortable in long sessions but I've learned to tolerate it. I use a TV tray or a laptop cooler if it gets too bad. I've never needed to turn the laptop cooler on though.

During normal use, it's not hot at all. I actually find it better than a lot of the competition I've seen. Of course if you leave it on a bed, it'll heat up. Not to the point of overheating like the old Sandy Bridge processors, but it'll jump up to 20C if you block the bottom intake vents.

Pfft! That's like putting cheap continental tires on a Ferrari. Gotta get a Hover X and ride this beast as it's meant to be ridden:

Yes, it is expensive, but it is worth every single penny. I use this with my RB every single time when I'm at home. Not just for gaming, but day-to-day working on the laptop. Currently using it with my G700 mouse.

I'm going to be watching to see what they do with the rmbp 15 for late 2016. I really don't want a MacBook since windows is still best for gaming, and bootcamp is still not quite as good as getting something from Razer.

My guess is I'll continue to use 2 notebooks, an rmbp 13 for work and the Razer for everything else.

I also use an iSkelter lapdesk when on the sofa or in bed, works great. I did not get the Hover X though, that thing is huge. Also the openings are actually not where fan intakes are on MOST laptops so that is a little gimmicky. I have a Slate 2.0 which I really like - as mentioned, they are not cheap but very high quality and I have been very happy so far with it. The mousepad is more than large enough for my G602, with the dpi turned up you do not need much travel.

They generally try to cater to Mac users, try to forgive them for that :)

I have a question about the storage options in the Blade 14...the 256GB or 512GB SSD's are M.2 SSD's, correct? Is there any other storage options besides that? Specifically a 2.5" drive bay?

They are PCIe NVME SSD's. There are no other storage options besides the one SSD slot (no 2.5" drive bays)
