I just recently bought (2days ago) a razer blade 14 from Canada Computers. This is the windows 8.1 version and out of the box I had a few problems that took hours to trouble shoot. Firstly it worked fine for the first 6 hours. I installed everything and got it to run but after I activated windows the blade would often times freeze. This would require me to force shut down but for whatever reason after force shutting it down it won't boot at all. The screen is black, there is a dim glow in the keys and they are completely unresponsive. There is also a green light at the front that after awhile will fade in and out. The only way to boot the laptop again is to drain the battery completely which depending on the charge can take awhile.... I have searched the forums and thought I came across a fix which was to update the killer wireless drivers since the current ones preinstalled were not compatible with win 8.1.

Then I ran into my next problem and that is constant BSODs with the driver state failure. It turns out it was related to the physx software and I have been able to get the older version installed. However again as above whenever I BSODed I could not boot into the OS unless the battery was completely drained.

So far I believe that I've fixed my initial two problems but now I have another one and that is sometimes windows will not shut down properly. I also disabled fast boot which I thought was supposed to fix it but last night after hitting the power button it would not shut off causing me to force shut it down by holding the power button. After which it won't boot properly until I drain the battery completely.

The BSODs and weird shutdown behavior I can deal with but the fact that the battery needs to be drained every time is just ridiculous. Is this a defect in the laptop or something common to expect for laptops with "non removable" batteries. I am considering going back to Canada Computers and asking for a new one but they are very particular about certain laptop returns and I can only get a replacement if I can prove that this is a DOA.

Any help and insight is greatly appreciated.

Well if these problems persist you can contact Razer directly and get them to send you a free usb to completely restore to factory state to rule out any software malfunctions if you have any questions i would like to refer you to this thread about the usb recovery http://forum.notebookreview.com/razer/736984-get-free-usb-recovery-drive-directly-razer.html

As for the Battery issue being hardware related it has not come up on this form and i hope we can help you fix or at least get a replacement as this is not in my power as i do not own this model hope some of the other members can help you.

Contracting Razer: email [email protected] or call 1-855-87-BLADE (1-855-872-5233)

Well the thing is that this laptop is basically brand new and I've had these problems even after doing a fresh reinstall using the f9 option during boot. I've looked through the forums and no one seems to have an issue with force shutting down and not being able to boot which leads me to think it might be faulty.

EDIT I also emailed and called them but I think their support doesn't run on weekends?

Other than waiting for Razers reply I think your only option is to return and replace this machine. Good luck and let us know if you find the cause of this problem as I'm out of suggestions so i hope the other members can jump in and help you.

K so just an update. I was able to return the laptop and get a full refund as it was considered a DOA.
