Has anybody managed to solve the hyperactive fans on the Razer blade 15 2020? The active trip point seems to be so low that the fans are constantly on. Unlocking the BIOS and messing with thermal configuration does not seem to have any impact.

    +1

Is there any whisper mode that I can activate on the blade?

No matter what I'm doing during web-browsing or working with word: The fans are kicking in often and stay on for quite a while.
Plugging off the blade helps a little bit, but even only on battery the fans kick in at around 55°C which is much too early from my point of view.

Unfortunetaly the CPU cores are always at 4 Ghz when plugged in via AC Adapter or USB-C Charger/Monitor.

I played around with ThrottleStop SST Settings and disabling turbo and even setting the cooling options in Windows to "passive". But the fans will always kick in at 55°C.

I really hope to get a similar quiet mode, as I had it with my old Razer Blade 14 (7700HQ). That was perfect. I guess Liquid Metal wont solve this problem.

Limiting the CPU state to 99% in the power management disables the turbo.
This means the CPU will use maximum 2.2GHz, but usually this is more than enough for everyday tasks (office/web/youtube).
This, plus a small undervolting resulted in my case a silent laptop (RBA Early2020 with 2070 Super).

Do not try to do this on Balanced mode - that is ****ed up at Razer! CPU fixed to turbo somehow.
Switching from Balanced to something else and back solves the issue - but first the Balanced is locked to 4.5-4.6Ghz.
Verify the power and frequency with CoreTemp. At idle it should go down to 0,8Ghz, then at load it goes up to 2.2GHz.

Create a new power scheme or do this in power saver mode.

Now my problem is the TB dock. It has a fan which is louder than the laptop ;)
If it is connected to the TB3 port (right side), it is silent - if I use the normal USB-c port on the left side, the fan kicks in and too loud.
Unfortunately I'm right handed, so the cable should be on left side.
    (don't buy HP 120W G2 dock)

(I usually have a VmWare VM running at the background - even with this the laptop is totally silent. There are cases when the fan gets audible (booting the VM or doing some CPU intensive tasks), but during normal usage (web/YT/Spotify/Office tasks) the laptop is silent.

I use the same settings on Battery to extend the battery runtime - 8-10 hours depending on the usage.
Screen brightness is on half, keyboard backlit is on.

Usually CoreTemp shows 2-8W power consumption. Now, when the VM is updating it consumes ~8.6W.

    Here is the XTU screen.

Synapse is on Balanced, Auto, Optimus.
The fan still spinning all the time, it is just inaudible.

Everything stock, no thermal paste or other changes.
At a later stage planning to go for TGC on CPU, that can also help lowering the temperature which results in even lower fan speed.

Unfortunately I cannot monitor the fan speed. If somebody knows a program which displays the fan speed, please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
So I will use 1) the Windows Power Saver Mode with your settings and 2) set the Synapse Settings on Auto for plugged and 3) activate Optimus in and on battery, right?

I Hope, my Blade won't go until 55°C, because at that point the fans start to kick in unfortunetaly.

Unfortunetaly undervolting is no option for me, due to the new BIOS Version. Perhaps using Liquid Metal could help a little bit.

UPDATE: Your advice didn't help much. Even with plus ThrottStop settings (SST on 192), the fans kick in at 55C. The Razer Synapse Program is simply a bad joke. Once the fans kicked in, they won't stop until I change between "balanced" and "custom" in my Synapse Program.

Maybe the UV is needed at your case too.
I also did the manual opening of the BIOS to be able to use UV. It is only 3 small step - you need the hardware programmer on a second computer an then it is possible to read and modify and then write back the BIOS.

Do not run Throttlestop and XTU at the same time. They are trying to do the same and that might be problematic.

Also if you run the MSI afterburner, that is also nonstop ping the GPU which leads to use the discrete GPU all the time which generate heat. So for silent operation, no TS, no Afterburner.

TS takes over the control of the CPU and you can forget the Power Saving Profile settings.
So first test without TS. If not OK, then you can try.
With a locked BIOS TS has no advantage for undervolting.

Having a look at my results, the last 1 hour my temp went up to 54 Celsius, but usually it is around 50 or less.

As you can see on the peak, the Virtual machine was restarted after a lot of pending Windows Update deployment for latest patches.

I'm sitting in a room with 22 Celsius. Just FYI.

If you played with TS, you should shutdown the computer completely.
Then start it. (restart does not empty the registers of the CPU which modified by TS).
This is the way to deactivate the setting TS did. Info is from the developer of TS in another forum thread.

So please forget TS/Afterburner at the beginning, simply apply the Power saving profile with 99% max CPU, Synapse on Balanced, Auto, Optimus enabled.

And use Core Temp to monitor the freq/wattage/temp.
If that is not enough, either undervolting or better thermal paste might help.

Sounds interesting. Is there any simple tutorial I can follow?

So in your case your blade barely reaches 55°C so that the fans wont turn on?
    Eben when plugged in?

I have it plugged in, the power brick and the TB3 dock too (HP 120W G2) .

As I have no application to display the fan speed - I am not sure if they are always stopped and only spin up when it goes above 55 Celsius.
At the moment they are not spinning - had a look from the bottom and I see the blades (so they are stopped).
Now I hear the HP dock as it has a fan. ;(

    Windows Power Scheme: Power saver
    Synapse: Balanced, Auto, Optimus on.
XTU is on -115mV for Cache and Core.

    Stock laptop with opened bios.
