I've set my CPU in power settings to max 5%, power saver, undervolted (which did help max temps), but regardless of what I do after the blade warms up it idles at 69-70 degrees.

CPU activity is at 0-1%, mainly hwinfo or task manager, .7Ghz so its not running at a high speed.

Is everyone elses doing this too?

Update- After a reboot and killing absolutely everything, like Steam, Dolby, and synapse, its idling at 50-55. Adding Synapse brought it to high 50s, Steam to 60-63, and the Dolby stuff right to mid 60s.

Well, assuming you're talking Celsius and not Fahrenheit, I'm idling right now bouncing between 38-41C. sometimes it spikes to 44-45 when something happens, but not for long. I have Dolby, Synapse, Skype, Intel XTU, and Geforce Experience, running in the background with this browser, reader, and Visual Studio open and being used.

I am undervolted by -100mV, and from the readings I've seen this particular CPU is well binned (Without adjusting voltages, it's been running at lower voltages for the same load levels as some of the other Blade's I've had in my posession). That being said, there's no reasonable way a poorly binned version of this processor should idle at 70C. When you say warmed up, do you mean after playing a game or doing something else that heavily loads it then stop and let it cool, or do you mean having it turned on long enough to bring the chassis up from room temperature to operating temperature?

Edit: I ran a CPU stress test in XTU,which leveled the CPU temperature at 71-74C for the duration of the test, then 5 minutes after the test ended (With light usage in browser and same programs running as listed before) it's down to 40-42C idle. This is how your laptop should be.

If your idle temperatures are so high, what are your load temperatures like? prime 95?

Load doesnt go over 90-95. Idle starts at 35 or so, then once I run something that ups the temps, they dont go down. The case gets warmer and it sits at the higher temp. Fans dont kick in until the 70s or 80s

Just played Borderlands for a few, and cpu max was 93, GPU 85, and then I quit the game, fans stayed on until it dropped to 69 and there she sits.. Waited 5 minutes, still at 69. That seems to be my idle once it warms up (and I mean the no touch zone above the keyboard. That got hot from borderlands, and I think that might contribute to the cpu staying hot.

Are you using a cooler or elevating the back?

No, I am not. I went ahead and ran a game to heat the GPU, too. Diablo 3, broght the CPU up to 78-83C sustained, then after 5 minutes, my idle temperature dropped down to 47-49C. Given 5-10 more minutes I expect it to be in the low 40's.

So. did a system restore, and now it idles in the mid to upper 40s after being used. Much better. But now to reinstall everything one by one and see what causes the cpu to flip..

You're dgpu must be on, check nvidia control panel since idling above 55 is not right, in fact it should be around 40, set default gpu to intel and see if your problem goes away, the case should not warm up at all in idle, also how is your battery, if you're getting less than 4 hours, chances are your dgpu is running, I had the same problem, solved it by doing this, if not roll gpu driver to stock, you can dl it from Razer's website.

thats possible. I have steam and synapse and a few things reinstalled and it seems to idle around 45 now. I played a game and got it to 90s, and its back to about 50 now and slowly dropping.

Guess I will keep an eye on the GPU usage icon then

Also msi afterburner keeps the gpu running, you should set steam to always use Intel gpu because it can default to dgpu

Yeah, I loaded up afterburner and set it up to limit frame rates but it was warming up the laptop constantly. I guess either I had it configured improperly or I just need to only start it before I play a game?

I killed it and the laptop was cold again.
