when i turn my laptop on it randomly turns off i've looked too see if there is any threads on the subject and what i gather it could be over heating and turning it self of is that one of the causes or is it tottally knackerd

I saw your Posting on one of the notebook forums about the Easynote R1005. I am working on one for a friend that might have the same or similar problem!

I have been on this for some time now as soon as I give it back to them it plays up! when it sits on my bench its fine. Typical!
Well when I first got it it was allegedly dead, wouldn't boot nothing, so I pulled the battery and refitted it and it was fine, tested it had it running all day no problem. I gave it back, and after a while I got it back and apparently it was intermittently going dead (as opposed to shutting down). The whole thing just goes dead (so im told I have never seen it).

I hade all the covers off underneath checked the Ram is plugged in and the connectors are clean, Checked the Hard drive and the wireless card for the same. All seemed OK. Had the cover off the processor and fan (Make sure that's all cleaned out so it doesn't get too hot) If you wanna test this leave the cover off with the laptop on its side and put a fan on it to see if yours is overheating (if it doesn't do it with a fan playing on it, its overheating).

Not being able to find the problem so far I was told by the owner that movement triggers it, so i have been tapping and checking all the input output plugs and sockets to see if something is shorting, No joy (so I think this is a red herring, I think this is just coincidence its switch off when they move it).

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that it might be a Power problem, although the battery seems quite good, I just have this feeling. I have yet to make tests on the battery and the PSU (I really hate laptop power supplies to small and they get too hot) But I'll let you know what I find.
I'm also going to check this out ........ http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/faq/easynote.htm#batt

I'll let you know how I get on
