    Hello everybody
    I have an EasyNote TK81
I face this problem sometimes when I try to restart my laptop or turn it off and after a while turn it on again, nothing is booted and the screen is completely black, I even don't get to see the motherboard logo, it is like screen is dead.
I have to force shut down it and turn it on again and if I am lucky I get to windows, if not the same problem will occur and I may have to do it several times to get the PC up and running.
Before I had the same problem which turning off and on haven't helped and the screen was always black and I solved it by holding power button down for a minute while neither AC Adaptor nor battery was mounted, but after that I could get to motherboard setting but it couldn't boot windows and there was a black screen and a courser blinking, I tried to change my RAM and it was solved, but now I have this issue they sometimes the screen remains black like I said.
But once I get to boot the windows after several times shutting down and turning on the laptop, I can use the computer without any problem until there is a need to restart or shut down the computer or computer goes to sleep mode after working idle for sometimes. I must also add that the problem DOES NOT happen every time I restart, but often.
I tried to Google it but there was not really any practical solutions. But I saw the same problems with ACER laptops in which the solution was to update the BIOS but since the solution was exactly for the ACER laptops, I preferred not to go for it.
I contacted the Packard Bell online support, they only suggested me to send the unit to their repair shop because they assumed it is a hardware failure but I think the repair cost is higher than the current price of laptop itself.
    I currently use Windows 7.
I hope I described the problem in details and I hope to receive a practical solution
    Thanks

I had the same problem, but with HP pavilion DV6 - its geforce 8400GS was dying. When the screen is black, can you hear start-up sound of the windows?

No, I hear nothing of that

But how come the graphics card is dying when sometimes it is working perfectly with no problem?

Exactly the same situation was with my pavilion. Sometimes it was booted normally and used without problems, sometimes without successful boot, only black screen, no windows logon sound, only LED are lit. Does your laptop support external display connection? If yes, try to connect external display and test your laptop for some days.

But I think the problem is in GPU.

The GPU (part of the northbridge) fails on these just as much as in the HP laptops if they aren't properly taken care of - constant cleaning of cooling system + only use on a flat surface with plenty of ventilation. The northbridge will need reballing or reflowing to fix.
