I have had 4 packard bell desktops and they were ok (they didnt break) But some of their products can be badged and they sell their name to be put on certain accessories...I used to work for the Dixons group and I believed we had themexclusively

Maybe Packard Bell will soon become rebranded Acer, for better or worse, if this report proves to be true.

Acer should steer clear of Packard Bell IMHO.

Well, apparently there are a lot of different opinions about PB. Well, here's mine: i have a MV86-003 laptop, which i bought 4 months ago. The build quality is great IMHO, it doesn't get hot and everything is ok, except one thing: on their website they said that the video card(radeon x1700) has a 128-bit memory bus. Ditto for absolutely all the online stores i found it on. But i got very low 3dmark05 scores(3200 with 7.8 catalyst). After installing everest i found the reason: the memory buss is actually 64-bit!!!!!    So, i was ripped off. I told the guys at the store about this and they say they'll mail the PB service guys and phone me back in a few days. So, if they'll fix it, i'll consider them an exelent brand.

I want to give my piece of mind about a relativly new 2006 PB W7600 sonoma
    1.83 100 Gb HD. 2GB DDR2 Laptop !!

The keyboard started to have problems with 4 keys. I took it to the off'icial
cervice center of PB. It is already 22 days that we are waiting for a replacement key board and they can not say when it will be available. So it is not only a expensive cheapy but it is headacke too.
This is my experince in Turkey.

I know what you mean. Mine is also an "expensive cheapy." But it gave me a headache; I've never had a headacke.

My Experience with PB was great. I got the easy note Skype edition as a present from my dad at the end of 2006. Since then I was using the laptop HARDCORE, I remember I even kept it on for 8 month without shutting it down. That time, I was studying masters in engineering so I had to use very heavy software on it. It never let me down. In two years I only had to change the CD/DVD once cuz it was broken, other than that, I really think it’s great. But please put in mind that I take very good care of my machines, even though I use them very hard. The only bad thing about this laptop is that its sound is very low.
