    HI

    In short: Are you satisfied with your Packard Bell laptop?

    And, could you please also post the reason for which you like/dislike your PB notebook? And for what time you've been owning it.

    I'll start. I have the MV86-003 in my signature for about 10 months and i'm very happy with it. It works perfectly and doesn't get to hot. The build quality is what i would call decent: the base unit is rigid, so it hardly flexes. It does creak, but only if grabbed by the corners. However, the HDD lid is moving a little. I take good care of it, and hardly travel with it. The biggest build quality issue is, however the weak display backcover. To summarize:

    PROs: -great screen
    -rigid base unit
    -decent speakers
    -excellent keyboard and touchpad

    CONs: -weak display backcover
    -the HDD lid is moving a little
    -the X1700 video card has a 64-bit bus, but it's negligible if you play games at 800x600 , like me.

    Thanks.

    x1700 64 bit bus. Talk about bottleneck

    lol :p What sort of 3dmark 06 score do you get on that system?

    About 1550 pts on 1280x800. But its not such a big deal. I don't mind playing at 800x600, and at that res the bandwidth doesn't matter.

    Only 8 votes. Come on guys, there have to be more PB users. And again, could you please state the model of your notebook and why you like/dislike it?

    Thanks.

    I got myself a Packard Bell Easy note last week. I liked the design the minute I saw it. A stylish black with cool blue lights. I also liked the fact that it had a numeric keypad, a feature few 15 inch laptops have. My specs are :

    * Intel T7200 @2.00 GHz
    * 160 GB HD
    * 2 gigs of ram
    * nvidea gforce Go 7400
    * intel 3945 ABG wireless
    * Bleutooth
    * built in cam
    * firewire
    * 4 x usb
    * card reader
    * opti arc dvdr

    So far I'm loving this laptop, there was an issue with the Seagate hd being noisy but I managed to solve it. Other then that it's working perfectly.

    Hi!

    Just got PB EASYNOTE F0445-P-077 (Skype Edition) just a month ago.
    - Intel® Core™2 Duo T5300 @ 1.73Ghz, 2 MB, 533 Mhz
    - Intel Mobile 945GM Express Chipset, 667 MHz system bus.
    - 1024 MB RAM
    - 120GB
    - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
    - SigmaTel STAC9200 HD Audio

    In terms of performance vis-a-vis the applications and software i use (i.e. word processing, imaging, desktop & web publishing), my PB hasn't let me down.

    There is one thing that causes me a bit of inconvenience though --> the sound from the speaker is as if it came through an empty can, and the max volume is barely audible.

    I need to connect an external speaker or headphones to hear music of view DVDs.

    Is there anyway i can increase the speaker's volume?

    I've already installed the drivers. Any other suggestions?

    Fist of all, check the volume bar in winamp or whatever player you are using. The look if your notebook doesn't have a separate volume knob(this is for the speakers, separate from the driver volume control). You might want to install codecs for videos. If everything fails, i'm afraid there's nothing you can do. Most laptops especially cheap ones have crappy speakers.

    Hi I have been using a PB easynote R 2561 for the last 1 1/2 years. specs are:

    Intel 915GM Pentium M (Dothan) Chipset 1.73 GHz
    Intel GMA900 Integrated Video Controller
    Realtek ALC260 High Definition audio codec
    1 GB RAM (upgraded)
    60 GB HDD

    So far it has worked more or less ok with its own share of issues like heating, slow HDD, bloatwares, freezings etc.. or maybe my expectations that this rig should run Photoshop cs3 is a bit too far fetched !!!

    it should run CS3 with no problems. I was using CS2 on my old PM750 1.86 and it worked well. Since CS3 is generally a reworked and optimized CS2, your laptop must be capable of it. However, Photoshop needs a fast harddrive when working with images in very high resolution 10+ layers

    I don't know the precise model designation - it doesn't say anywhere on the chassis - but it's the 17" W-series model from late '06 (specs in sig).

    It works alright. Build quality and looks are bad. Screen is poor. All the third party hardware is good (processor, graphics, hd), but I just can't stand the disk drive. It's made by Packard Bell (NEC), and I'm going to avoid NEC drives in the future. It's slow, and very loud at full speed. It's also sporadic - whilst writing a CD it randomly speeds up and slows down for no apparent reason.

    slowing down when writing means it needs to refill the buffer

    btw, NEC owns Packard Bell
