hi i am having problems of powering up my laptop. I have used a Compaq laptop adapter that is a 19v 3.16a adapter. I have lost my orginal which was a 19v 6.32a adapter. When I try to power my laptop off the compaq adapter the laptop switches on (fans start) for a second then switches off. I i try this about 15 times and then it will finally boot up once and then I can see bios screen for about 10-15 seconds before laptop switches off.
Should I buy an original adapter (again)? Does the different in amps make the difference? 3.16a not enough to power laptop? Do I have to have a 6.32a adapter?
Any ideas would help!
many thanks

Seems like a good idea. -
hi thanks for the cooments but do you think buying a 19v adapter would solve the problem? Is that causing the notebook not to boot properly?

The Amps are also important, your current 3.16A adapter delivers 1/2 the power (Watts = VxA) your NB actually needs.
